Changes in lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase activities during hypoxia and after temperature acclimation in the armored fish, Rhinelepis strigosa (Siluriformes, Loricariidae) BJB
PANEPUCCI,L.; FERNANDES,M. N.; SANCHES,J. R.; RANTIN,F. T..
Lactate (LDH) and malate dehydrogenase (MDH) of white skeletal muscle of fishes acclimated to 20, 25 and 30°C and thereafter submitted to hypoxia were studied in different substrate concentrations. Significant differences for LDH and MDH of white muscle enzyme activities are described here for the first time in Rhinelepis strigosa of fishes acclimated to 20°C and submitted to hypoxia for six hours. LDH presented a significant decrease in enzyme affinity for pyruvate in acute hypoxia, for fishes acclimated to 20°C and an increase for fishes acclimated to 30°C.

Modification of pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase in foot muscle of the sea mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis under anaerobiosis and recovery BJMBR
The modification of pyruvate kinase (PK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in foot muscle of the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis during exposure to air and recovery in water was investigated. In the course of exposure to air, the activity of these enzymes measured at high and low substrate concentrations showed successive increases and decreases. Returning the mussels to water after exposure to air affected enzyme activity in a manner similar to anaerobiosis. When measuring at saturated concentrations of substrates and substrate and coenzyme for PK and LDH, respectively, the maximum activation of PK (37%) was observed at 4 h of animal exposure to air, and for LDH (67%) at 6 h exposure to air. During 24 h of exposure of animals to air, PK activity...

Caffeine Supplementation and muscle damage in soccer players BJPS
Machado,Marco; Breder,Anselmo Carvalho; Ximenes,Marcio Carvalho; Simões,Jarbas Rodrigues; Vigo,José Fábio Florentino.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of caffeine supplementation and intermittent exercise on the muscle injury markers in soccer players. 15 male professional soccer players completed a placebo controlled double blind test protocol. 45 minutes before exercise, participants ingested 5.5 mg.kg-1 body mass of caffeine (EXP, n=8) or placebo (CONT, n=7). The exercise was 12 sets of 10 sprints (20 m each) with 10 sec recovery time between sprints and 2 min between sets. Blood samples were collected before (PRE) and 48h after exercise (POST). Serum activity of CK, LDH, AST, and ALT were quantified. Serum enzyme activity was enhanced by exercise in both groups, without a synergistic effect of caffeine. The findings suggest muscle injury markers...

The impacts of Elaeagnus umbellata Thunb. leaf and fruit aqueous extracts on mice hepatic, extrahepatic antioxidant and drug metabolizing enzymes related structures BJPS
Ozen,Tevfik; Yildirim,Kemal; Toka,Mehmet.
ABSTRACT In this work, the potential chemopreventive activities of Elaeagnus umbellata fruit aqueous (EUFA) and leaf aqueous (EULA) extracts focusing on the modulatory influence of xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes (XMEs), antioxidant enzymes, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6PGD), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, lipid peroxidation (LP), sulfhydryl groups were investigated in the hepatic and extrahepatic organs of Swiss albino mice (50 and 100 mg/kg body wt given orally for 14 days) and compared with BHA (0.75 % in diet). The modulatory and chemopreventive properties of two different doses EUFA and EULA were observed for cytochrome P450, cytochrome b5, sulfhydryl groups, NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase,...

Биохимические эффекты полихлорированных бифенилов на организм черноморского моллюска Mytilus galloprovincialis Lam. IBSS Repository
Солдатов, А. А.; Бочко, О. Ю.; Головина, И. В.; Щербань, С. А.; Вялова, О. Ю..

THE USE OF SEROTHERAPHY TO REVERSE ECG and CARDIAC ENZYME CHANGES CAUSED BY SCORPION Mesobuthus tamulus concanesis, Pocock ENVENOMING J. Venom. Anim. Toxins
MURTHY,K. RADHA KRISHNA; ZARE,M. ABBAS; HAGHNAZARI,L..
Acute myocardiopathy in experimental dogs and rabbits was induced by subcutaneous (SQ) injection of 3.5 mg/kg of scorpion venom from Mesobuthus tamulus concanesis, Pocock. An increase in circulating lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (SGOT), creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme (CK-MB), serum glutamine pyrovate transaminase (SGPT) and alpha hydroxy butyrate dehydrogenase (HBDH) enzyme levels was observed in dogs 60 min after venom injection, and a further rise was observed 120 min after venom injection. The administration of the species-specific scorpion antivenom (SAV) at different time intervals after venom injection resulted in reversal of electrocardiographic changes and a reduction in cardiac enzyme levels. The administration...

Rhizosphere properties of rice genotypes as influenced by anoxia and availability of zinc and iron PAB
Hajiboland,Roghieh; Beiramzadeh,Naier.
The objective of this work was to study possible mechanisms involved in root-induced changes of rhizosphere physicochemical properties of rice genotypes, under anoxia and low supply of Zn and Fe. Two rice genotypes, including an upland and a lowland ones, were grown in hydroponic medium under adequate and low supply of Zn and Fe, with or without aeration. Anoxia increased shoot dry weight, root length and uptake of Zn and Fe in lowland Amol genotype, but reduced these parameters in upland Gasrol-Dashti genotype. The amount of oxygen released by roots was statistically higher in 'Amol'. The highest acidification potential of roots was observed in the lowland genotype under low supply of Zn, and in the upland genotype under Fe starvation. The highest oxalate...
