Milk composition and blood metabolic profile from holstein cows at different calving orders and lactation stages Animal Sciences
Dias, Mariana Borges de Castro; Leão, Karen Martins; Carmo, Ruthele Moraes do; Silva, Marco Antônio Pereira da; Nicolau, Edmar Soares; Marques, Thaisa Campos.
This study aimed to evaluate milk composition and metabolic profile of Holstein cows at different calving orders in the beginning, middle, and end of lactation. One hundred ten Holstein cows were housed in a free stall system receiving the same diet and were grouped according to calving order (first, second, third, and fourth calving) and days in milk (DIM): early (1-90 DIM), middle (91-180 DIM), and end of lactation (over 181 DIM) for comparing milk yield, milk composition, and blood metabolic profile between the calving orders within the same lactation period. These parameters were also evaluated between lactation periods of the cows in different calving orders. The calving order, in any lactation stage, had no influence on milk yield per day and blood...

The concentrations of the six major sialyl oligosaccharides found in the milk of 24 Japanese women were determined using reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography of the 3-methyl-1-phenyl-5- pyrazolone derivatives of the oligosaccharides. The milk was collected at 4, 10, 30 and 100 days postpartum. The concentrations of all six oligosaccharides decreased during the course of lactation. The concentrations of 6'-sialyllactose, sialyllacto-N-tetraose b and disialyllacto-N-tetraose decreased only after 10 days postpartum, whereas those of sialyllacto-N-tetraose a and sialyllacto-N-neotetraose c as well as 3'-sialyllactose decreased from 4 days postpartum. Large differences were observed between present data and those previously reported for Italian...

Chemical and fatty acid composition of milk from crossbred cows subjected to feed restriction PAB
Silva,Deiyse Alves; Rocha Júnior,Vicente Ribeiro; Ruas,José Reinaldo Mendes; Santana,Pedro Felipe; Borges,Luana Alcântara; Caldeira,Luciana Albuquerque; Reis,Sidnei Tavares dos; Menezes,Jordana Carvalho de; Lanna,Dante Pazzanese Duarte.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the chemical composition and fatty acid profile of milk from F1 Holstein/Zebu cows in different lactation periods, when receiving different levels of dietary supply in percentage of body weight. Sixty cows were evaluated, with five levels of dietary supply and three lactation periods. The levels of dietary supply had no effect on the production of milk corrected to 3.5% fat (12.25 kg per day). There was also no effect of dietary supply levels, in the different lactation periods, on contents of fat (3.34%), protein (3.41%), lactose (4.60%), total solids (12.0%), defatted dry extract (8.80%), and urinary nitrogen (14.5 mg dL-1), nor on somatic cell count (89.98 mL-1). As the dietary supply level was...

Editing and modeling of milk production data for genetic evaluation of Murrah buffaloes PAB
Souza,Andréa Carolina Santos de; Rezende,Marcos Paulo Gonçalves de; Carneiro,Paulo Luiz Souza; Campos,Bárbara Machado; Malhado,Carlos Henrique Mendes.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the effect of editing and modeling of milk production data for genetic evaluation of Murrah buffaloes. Six strategies for evaluating milk production were analyzed: observed milk production (OMP); adjustment of milk production data to 305 (MP305) and 270 (MP270) days of lactation; removal of the 5 (MP5%) and 10% (MP10%) shortest lactation periods; and milk production along the lactation period as linear covariate (MPCO). Genetic parameters were estimated using the Bayesian inference, with heritability estimates of 0.19 to 0.23 and repeatability estimates of 0.35 to 0.36. Sires classified by OMP were high correlated to those classified by the other models, however, correlations to MP270, MP305 and MPCO...
