| Along biometric characteristics, glass eel otoliths were collected during three migration seasons, in the Adour estuary, during the new moon of January. Microstructure reading and measurements of various growth zones bring information on glass eel larval life during their oceanic migration and the transition phase in estuary. The results show significant inter-annual variations of glass eels otolithometric characteristics from the point of view of their typology as of the various growth zones measured during transoceanic migration. The differences observed between the years on the typology level could be related to very fluctuating environmental conditions during recruitment.
