Responses of six Brachiaria spp. accessions to root zone flooding R. Bras. Zootec.
Caetano,Luana Pabla de Souza; Dias-Filho,Moacyr Bernardino.
Some morphophysiological responses of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, cv. Piatã, cv. Arapoty, B163, B166 and B. ruziziensis R124 were compared in plants grown in pots, under flooded and well-drained conditions. Flooding reduced leaf elongation rate in all accessions. Leaf dry mass production was lower under flooding than in the control plants in all the studied accessions, except in cv. Piatã. Root dry mass production was reduced by flooding in cv. Marandu and in R124, while the proportion of biomass allocated to roots was reduced by flooding only in R124. It was not possible to detect significant differences between water regimes in the percentage of biomass allocated to culms and leaves for all accessions. Flooding decreased the number of tillers in...

Morphogenetic and tillering dynamics in Tanzania grass fertilized and non-fertilized with nitrogen according to season R. Bras. Zootec.
Roma,Cláudio Fabrício da Cruz; Cecato,Ulysses; Soares Filho,Cecílio Viega; Santos,Geraldo Tadeu dos; Ribeiro,Ossival Lolato; Iwamoto,Bruno Shigueo.
The objectives of this study were to evaluate morphogenetic characteristics and tillering dynamics in Tanzania grass fertilized and non-fertilized with nitrogen, under intermittent grazing, in the spring and the summer. The main plots were composed of four nitrogen rates (0, 100, 200 and 300 kg/ha) and the subplots were growth seasons: spring (October, November and December) and summer (January, February and March). The experimental design was of randomized block with plots subdivided by time (seasons of the year) and four replications. Urea was used as nitrogen supply and was divided into two applications: one in the spring and another in the summer. The experimental units fertilized with N rates of 200 and 300 kg/ha showed six cycles of pasture, with an...

Morphogenesis of native grasses of Pampa Biome under nitrogen fertilization R. Bras. Zootec.
Machado,Juliana Medianeira; Rocha,Marta Gomes da; Quadros,Fernando Luiz Ferreira de; Confortin,Anna Carolina Cerato; Santos,Aline Bosak dos; Sichonany,Maria José de Oliveira; Ribeiro,Laila Arruda; Rosa,Aline Tatiane Nunes da.
Morphogenetic and structural characteristics of the native grasses of the Pampa Biome Andropogon lateralis, Aristida laevis, Axonopus affinis, Erianthus angustifolius, Paspalum notatum, Paspalum plicatulum, Piptochaetium montevidense and Sorghastrum pellitum were evaluated as to the effect of nitrogen (N) fertilization (zero and 100 kg N/ha). The experimental design was of randomized blocks with three replicates in a 8 × 2 (native grasses × N) factorial arrangement. Accumulated thermal sums of 350 and 700 degree days determined the interval between cuts for prostrate and caespitose growth habit species, respectively. Species considered of resource conservation (A. laevis, E. angustifolius, P. plicatulum and S. pellitum) had the highest leaf elongation rate...

Morphogenesis of elephant grass fertilized with organic compost from solid waste in small ruminants Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Meneses,Abner José Girão; Cândido,Magno José Duarte; Pompeu,Roberto Cláudio Fernandes Franco; Souza,Henrique Antunes de; Guedes,Fernando Lisboa.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the biomass flow of irrigated Pennisetum purpureum cv. Cameroon fertilized with different levels of organic compost made from waste derived from production and slaughter of sheep and goat farming. The experiment was conducted in a cut and carry of elephant grass for four 60 day-cycles. The treatments consisted of levels of organic compost (0; 13.3; 26.6; 39.9; 53.2; 79.8) ton ha-1, besides a mineral treatment with nitrogen and potassium of 720 and 900 kg ha-1 yr-1, respectively. This was a split plot randomized block design with repeated measures over time, in which levels were assigned to plots, and cycles, to subplots. Morphogenetic characteristics of elephant grass were influenced by levels of the compost. Forage production...

Morphogenesis in pastures with Tanzania grass fertilized with nitrogen doses under a grazing system Animal Sciences
Soares Filho, Cecilio Viega; Cecato, Ulysses; Ribeiro, Ossival Lolato; Roma, Claudio Fabrício da Cruz; Beloni, Tatiane.
The morphogenetic and structural characteristics, coupled to forage production of Tanzania grass with nitrogen (N) doses during the seasons of the year, at intermittent grazing, were analyzed. The experimental design consisted of a totally randomized block with split plots and four replications. The plots comprised 0, 150, 300 and 450 kg ha-1 N levels, whereas the sub-plots were the seasons. Urea was applied three times on the pasture and had a positive effect on the rates of leaf elongation and emergence and on the number of live leaves of Tanzania grass in the spring and summer. High nitrogen fertilization associated with shorter grazing intervals triggered a higher percentage of leaf blades in the management of Tanzania grass under rotational stocking...

Morphogenic, structural, productive and bromatological characteristics of Braquiária in silvopastoral system under nitrogen doses Animal Sciences
Carvalho, Zaqueu Gonçalves; Sales, Eleuza Clarete Junqueira de; Monção, Flávio Pinto; Vianna, Maria Celuta Machado; Silva, Edilane Aparecida; Queiroz, Domingos Sávio.
his study aimed to evaluate the effect of different doses of nitrogen fertilization on the morphogenic, structural, productive and chemical composition of Urochloa decumbens (Stapf) R. D. Webster cv. Basilisk in a silvopastoral system with eucalyptus. The experimental treatments consisted of pastures of Basilisk cultivar, fertilized with 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg ha-1 year-1 of N, and intercropped with eucalyptus, clone GG 100 (Eucalyptus grandis x E. urophylla). The experimental arrangement followed a randomized block design with four replicates. The evaluated characteristics were: foliar appearance rate, phyllochron, leaf length, leaf elongation rate, leaf life span, foliar senescence rate, number of green leaves per tiller, number of senescent leaves...
