Surveys to determine the occurrence of insect populations associated to Malpighia glabra L. (Malpighiaceae) were conduced from August 1997 to December 1998, in Maringá region, Paraná State, Brazil. Insects were collected once every two weeks in 20 Barbados cherry plants located in a commercial orchard. Samplings were taken using the plants around crown walking for 10 minutes and visual observation of the branches, leaves and fruits. The collection of possible insects present in the plants was accomplished manually, using an entomological net, a trap with attractive feed and cutting branches and leaves that later on were observed under stereomicroscope.
