Short term changes in zooplankton community during the summer-autumn transition in the open NW Mediterranean Sea: species composition, abundance and diversity ArchiMer
Raybaud, V.; Nival, P.; Mousseau, L.; Gubanova, A.; Altukhov, D.; Khvorov, S.; Ibanez, F.; Andersen, V..
Short term changes in zooplankton community were investigated at a fixed station in offshore waters of the Ligurian Sea (DYNAPROC 2 cruise, September-October 2004). Mesozooplankton were sampled with vertical WPII hauls (200 mu m mesh-size) and large mesozooplankton, macrozooplankton and micronekton with a BIONESS multinet sampler (500 mu m mesh-size). Temporal variations of total biomass, species composition and abundance of major taxa were studied. Intrusions of low salinity water masses were observed two times during the cruise. The first one, which was the most intense, was associated with changes in zooplankton community composition. Among copepods, the abundance of Calocalanus, Euchaeta, Heterorhabdus, Mesocalanus, Nannocalanus, Neocalanus,...

Les poissons de la famille Echeneididae (Remoras) de la Mer Ligure et de la Mer Tyrrhenienne ArchiMer
Tortonese, E.
Five spp of Echeneididae are presently known in the Mediterranean: Echeneis naucrates L., Remora remora (L.), R. brachyptera (Lowe), R. australis (Benn) and Rhombochirus osteochir (Cuv). All of them may now be reported from the area comprising the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian seas. Many mistakes occurred in the past, chiefly concerning R. remora a name too often wrongly applied to different spp. Echeneis holbrooki from the gulf of Genoa is really E. naucrates. Only 2 specimens of R. brachyptera were found, both in Sicilian waters. R. australis is here recorded from the Tyrrhenian sea. Rh. osteochir has been hitherto overlooked, but probably is the commonest Echeneid in the Mediterranean. A list is given of specimens from several localities (Gulf of Genoa,...

Standardization prospective in ESONET NoE and a possible implementation on the ANTARES Site ArchiMer
Puillat, Ingrid; Person, Roland; Leveque, Claude; Drogou, Jean-francois; Diepenbroek, Michael; Garreau, Pierre; Waldmann, Christoph; Auffret, Yves.
ESONET is a Multidisciplinary European Network of Excellence (NoE) associating 50 partners from 14 countries and more than 300 scientists and engineers and dedicated to the lasting integration of research and development in deep sea observatories in Europe. Amongst other actions, it works at establishing seafloor infrastructure that will Provide platforms for instrumentation deployed throughout the water column and the geosphere below in a standard manner. Those platforms will provide power for instruments and real-time two-way data communications. This preparatory phase of observatory implementation is intended to select the most suitable standards in order to develop observatories that are interoperable between themselves and which would be able to...
