A Computer-Assisted Method for Depositional Model Determination ArchiMer
Ndiaye, Mapathe; Davaud, Eric; Jorry, Stephan.
A software has been developed to overcome the difficulties related to depositional model determination in Geosciences. The implemented methods, Walker, Harper and Turk methods, based on Markov process and Markov chain analysis, have been used in a case study. The results of the analysis are consistent with previous works. The analysis shows also that the results are accurate and do not rely on the used method. Therefore, the obtained depositional sequence is suitable to build a depositional model on which reliable sequence stratigraphic studies can be based.

An Evaluation of Canadian and U.S. Policies of Log and Lumber Markets AgEcon
Devadoss, Stephen.
The recent lumber trade war between Canada and the United States deals with Canadian stumpage policies, Canada’s log export controls, and U.S. retaliatory duty. This study determines the appropriate level of U.S. countervailing duty (CVD) by employing a vertically interrelated log–lumber model. The theoretical results show that the U.S. CVD can be greater (will be less) than the Canadian subsidy for a vertically related log–lumbermarket (for lumber market only). Empirical results support the theoretical findings in that the U.S. CVD for the log–lumber market (lumber market alone) is 1.55 (0.91) times the Canadian subsidy.

File filtering in Stata: Handling complex data formats and navigating log files efficiently AgEcon
Eng, John.
A text file filter is a program that converts one text file into another on the basis of a set of rules. For statistical applications, a text file filter can convert data embedded in a complicated text file so that Stata can read and analyze it. A text file filter can also automate the production of more user-friendly output from long Stata log files. The file command lets you use text file filters in Stata. This article reviews some key programming points for successful implementation of such filters.
