Acalyptris Meyrick: revision of the platani and staticis groups in Europe and the Mediterranean (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Trifurcula (Trifurcula) pallidella (Duponchel, 1843) is recorded for the first time from Spain, Andalusia. Previous records were misidentifications. Male genitalia are illustrated and a revised distribution map is provided. A few records of Trifurcula (Levarchama) species from the Annotated catalogue published in 2004 are corrected.

A note on stamen position and petal number in Loranthaceae Naturalis
Kuijt, J..
Stamen position in Loranthaceae is summarized in both the Old and New Worlds. In the former, stamens are inserted on petals at the same height in an individual flower, with very few exceptions that appear to be in basalmost genera only. In the Americas, much diversity exists in both the position and the within-flower shapes of stamens, phenomena that occur in many genera, Psittacanthus showing the greatest diversity. The dimorphic, or at least the biseriate condition is believed to be the plesiomorphic state. Some comments are added on petal numbers in the family.

Anatomy and ontogenesis of hymenopteran leaf galls of Struthanthus vulgaris Mart. (Loranthaceae) Rev. Bras. Bot.
KRAUS,JANE E.; ARDUIN,MARCOS; VENTURELLI,MARGARIDA.
Leaves of Struthanthus vulgaris Mart. (Loranthaceae) exhibit galls induced by a Hymenoptera. These galls pass through five developmental stages. In the first stage, a small brown swelling is observed on the surface of the leaf. Internally, the chlorenchyma cells around the eggs of the gall-makers are divided. In the second stage, the gall enlarges and its surface assumes a wavy appearance with a depressed region in its center. Within this depression, an incompletely divided gall chamber with embryos is observed. Neoformed parenchyma is present around the chamber and the secondary walls of fibers and sclereids are no longer observed. The vascular parenchyma shows hyperplasia. In the third stage, the gall grows larger and adopts an ellipsoidal shape....

Historia natural cuantitativa de una relación parásito-hospedero: el sistema Tristerix-cactáceas en Chile semiárido RChHN
MEDEL,RODRIGO; BOTTO-MAHAN,CAREZZA; SMITH-RAMÍREZ,CECILIA; MÉNDEZ,MARCO A.; OSSA,CARMEN G.; CAPUTO,LUCIANO; GONZÁLES,WILFREDO L..

Observational and experimental evaluation of hemiparasite resistance in trees in the urban afforestation of Santarém, Pará, Brazil Acta Amazonica
SILVA,Francisco Pinheiro da; FADINI,Rodrigo Ferreira.
ABSTRACT One of the problems affecting the quality of urban trees is their infestation by mistletoes (aerial hemiparasite plants of the order Santalales). Identification of the main types of trees infested, and of the causes of infestation patterns, can help infestation control and the planning of efficient planting regimes. In this sense, the aim of this study was to evaluate the patterns of hemiparasite infestation in trees in an Amazonian urban environment. We aimed to answer (1) which species of mistletoes occur on urban trees in the city of Santarém, in the Brazilian Amazon; (2) what is the proportion and intensity of infestation on infected trees; and (3) if differences in infestation rates among tree species can be explained by mistletoe-tree...

As famílias Loranthaceae e Viscaceae da APA de Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil Acta Botanica
Moreira,Bianca Alsina; Rizzini,Cecilia Maria.

Non-overlap of hosts used by three congeneric and sympatric loranthaceous mistletoe species in an Amazonian savanna: host generalization to extreme specialization Acta Botanica
Fadini,Rodrigo Ferreira.
Two main hypotheses predominate in the literature on mistletoe-host specificity: (1) mistletoes are only likely to specialize on plant species on which they are frequently deposited; and (2) compatibility between mistletoes and plant species is a prerequisite for mistletoe-host parasitism. I explored these hypotheses by studying the seed deposition patterns and mistletoe-host compatibility in populations of three congeneric and sympatric mistletoe species of the genus Psittacanthus (P. biternatus, P. eucalyptifolius and P. plagiophyllus - Loranthaceae). I recorded the presence or absence of these mistletoe species in 15 tree species in a savanna patch in Amazonia. Among the five tree species that I found to be potential hosts (at least one tree individual...
