Handling systems in seed processing factories inflict impressive damages on seed corn. It was reported 24% of damages on seed corns related to elevators. In current research, the operation of a Z- Shape elevator was studied and compared to conventional bucket elevator which employed in two seed drying stations of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute in Karaj city and Shahi plant in Moghan plain, Iran. The effect of elevator operation on seed cracking and breakage was determined by t- test. According to the results, applying Z- Shape elevator decreased the physical seed damages up to 78% and reduced the chance of seed cracking between 4 to 8% in comparison with conventional elevators. Economically results illustrated spending the cost equal to 10% of the... |

The Neutral Theory of Evolution (NTE) proposes mutation and random genetic drift as the most important evolutionary factors. The most conspicuous feature of evolution is the genomic stability during paleontological eras and lack of variation among taxa; 98% or more of nucleotide sites are monomorphic within a species. NTE explains this homology by random fixation of neutral bases and negative selection (purifying selection) that does not contribute either to evolution or polymorphisms. Purifying selection is insufficient to account for this evolutionary feature and the Nearly-Neutral Theory of Evolution (N-NTE) included negative selection with coefficients as low as mutation rate. These NTE and N-NTE propositions are thermodynamically (tendency to random... |

We seek to examine the manner in which either the EU member states of France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden or parts of them, such as the country of England in the UK or the Flemish Region in Belgium, deal with the distributional effects of the flood risk management strategies prevention, defense, and mitigation. Measures carried out in each of these strategies can cause preflood harm, as in the devaluation of property or loss of income. However, different member states and authorities address this harm in different ways. A descriptive overview of the different compensation regimes in the field of flood risk management is followed by an analysis of these differences and an explanation of what may cause them, such as the geographical differences that... |

The consequences of a sudden decrease in water salinity on a macrophyte community dominated by the marine species Zostera noltii were investigated in a shallow coastal lagoon (Southern France). The expected change in the community assemblage was a competitive displacement of Z. noltii by Potamogeton pectinatus and Ruppia cirrhosa. However, the results of an eight-year survey did not validate this hypothesis. Zostera noltii remained dominant after three years at low salinity (ca. 5) and then suddenly disappeared within one year. The decline of Z. noltii was not associated with an increase of other species. The maximum depth colonized by all species decreased, suggesting that light availability became a limiting factor for the aquatic vegetation. The high... |

High rise of temperature (41.3℃), hemoglobinurea, anorexia, decrease milk production, anemia and diarrhea were observed in a cross-bred cow of aged 4 years, maintained in the dairy farm of ICAR research complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, India, in its 3 months of lactation. After examination of Giemsa stained blood smears and molecular diagnosis using polymerase chain reaction, the disease was diagnosed as babesiosis caused by Babesia bigemina. The animal was treated successfully with a single injection of 4,4' diamidine diazoamine benzene diaceturate in recommended dose. No parasite was detected by examination of Giemsa stained blood smears after a period of 48 hours post treatment onwards. A total loss of 51.6 liter milk production... |
