Wagner, H.P..
The Western Atlantic species formely assigned to the (sub)genera Mithrax and Mithraculus are revised. Mithrax and Mithraculus are treated here as two distinct genera based on seven (relative) constant generic characters, keys to the various species are given. Associated occurrence of Cyclocoeloma tuberculata Miers, 1880 (Decapoda: Majidae) and species of Discosomatidae (Anthozoa: Corallimorpharia) Naturalis
Hartog, J.C. den.
Several cases are reported of associated occurrence of the crab Cyclocoeloma tuberculata Miers, 1880 (Majidae) and species of Discosomatidae (Anthozoa: Corallimorpharia) carried on the crab's carapace, and colonies of Xeniidae (Alcyonacea) carried on the ambulatory legs. This is the first record of an association of a crab and a corallimorpharian.

Larval development of Notolopas brasiliensis Miers, 1886 (Brachyura: Majoidea: Pisidae) described from laboratory reared material and a reappraisal of the characters of Pisidae Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Santana,William; Marques,Fernando P.L.; Fransozo,Adilson; Bertini,Giovana.
The complete larval stages of Notolopas brasiliensis are described from laboratory reared material, with emphasis on the external morphological features of Majoidea, and compare the morphology of N. brasiliensis with other genera of Pisidae. Larval development of N. brasiliensis consists of two zoeal stages and one megalopa. The duration mean of each zoeal stage was 4.2 ± 1.0 days for Zoea I and 3.8 ± 0.7 days for Zoea II, the megalopa instar appearing 8.1 ± 0.4 days after hatching. The characters previously used to define larval forms of Pisidae are either symplesiomorphic or potentially highly homoplastic. As well, was observed that there are no common sets of larval characters that would define Pisidae nowadays. However, was showed that only a...

Breeding period of the spider crab Mithraculus forceps (A. Milne Edwards) (Crustacea, Majidae, Mithracinae)in the southeastern Brazilian coast Zoologia
Cobo,Valter José.
Investigations concerning to the breeding period of brachyuran crabs provide fundamental information to determine their reproductive cycle, and also to establish management plans for species mainly in protected areas. This study provides data on the breeding period of M.forceps (A. Milne Edwards, 1875) in the southeastern Brazilian coast. Monthly samplings were carried out during a one year-round. A catch effort of approximately four hours was allocated to each monthly survey. The breeding intensity was determined based on the percentage of ovigerous crabs within the whole adult female population. A total of 137 adult females was obtained, from which 80.3% presented eggs attached on their pleopods. Ovigerous females were observed yearround, usually...
