Recent data on status and distribution of resident and migrant birds in the Cape Verde Islands are presented, including records of 11 taxa new to the archipelago, viz. Lesser Scaup Aythya affinis, White-tailed Tropicbird Phaethon lepturus, Great White Egret Casmerodius albus, Semipalmated Plover Charadrius semipalmatus, Semipalmated Sandpiper Calidris pusilla, Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes, Spotted Sandpiper Actitis macularia, Roseate Tern Sterna dougallii, Pallid Swift Apus pallidus, Black Redstart Phoenicurus ochruros, and Winchat Saxicola rubetra. Status and conservation of rare breeding taxa (including endemics) are discussed. |

Personal networks can help rural workers find urban jobs. Moreover, when the information flow increases due to the mobile phone coverage expansion, the new information flow may strengthen the existing personal networks or bypass them, helping those who were previously outside the networks in the latter case. We examine the combined impact of mobile phone coverage expansion and personal networks by using panel data of 856 households in 94 communities in rural Uganda, where the number of communities covered by mobile phone coverage increased from 41 to 87 communities over a two-year period between first and second surveys in 2003 and 2005, respectively. The present work investigates whether Brazilian migrants (individuals that live outside their home state) income is, on average, at the level or superior to non-migrant workers. We also present a comparative analysis of income distribution between migrant and non-migrant workers for Brazil and Minas Gerais County specifically in the years of 2002 and 2004. In order to do this we employed a methodology based on two main aspects; earning equations and data measuring inequality and poverty rates obtained from the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicilios institute (PNAD).
