| A recent collection of bats from northern Sulawesi (Celebes), Halmahera and Bacan (Batjan), Indonesia, contains representatives of three macroglossine genera. A specimen of Eonycteris rosenbergii (Jentink, 1889) from northern Sulawesi — a species previously known only from the immature type specimen — together with an additional, previously unreported specimen confirms the diagnostic value of the absence of the third lower molar. The validity of this taxon has been questioned by several authors, who suggested that E. rosenbergii is based on an anomalous specimen of E. spelaea (Dobson, 1871). | 31 Cardiidae species have been collected in Ambon, Indonesia by the Rumphius Biohistorical Expedition, comprising circa 40% of the known species of this family from the Indonesian archipelago. Seven of these could be traced to the figures given by Rumphius (1705) and an additional two, taking into account some reservations about the identity of Rumphius' depicted shells. This implies that all but one of Rumphius' species, viz. Tridacna (Tridacna) gigas (Linnaeus, 1758), have been reencountered by the present expedition. The expedition has yielded the first Indonesian published records of two species: Fulvia (Laevifulvia) lineonotata Vidal, 1994 and Acrosterigma dianthinum (Melvill & Standen, 1899). | A synopsis of the 97 species of lichomolgid copepods known to be associated with tropical IndoPacific shallow-water alcyonaceans is given (Madagascar, New Caledonia, Moluccas, Philippines, and Enewetak Atoll). One new genus and 29 new species are included, distributed among the lichomolgid genera Acanthomolgus (2 new species), Alcyonomolgus (1), Colobomolgus (2), Critomolgus (3), Doridicola (5), Paradoridicola (7), Paramolgus (8), and Telestacicola (1). | Three new species of the genus Irianjaya Koçak & Kemal, 2009 (Diptera: Asilidae: Asilinae) from Indonesia are described and partly illustrated. Irianjaya halmaheraensis spec. nov. from Halmahera (North Moluccas), A. sulaensis spec. nov. from Mangole (Sula Islands) and I. sumbawaensis spec. nov. from Sumbawa (Lesser Sunda Islands). Eccoptopus impiger van der Wulp, 1872, is a new junior synonym of Irianjaya areolaris (Walker, 1860). In addition, the following new combinations are given: Irianjaya areolaris (Walker, 1860), I. impiger (Wulp, 1872), and I. mendax (Walker, 1857), formerly placed in Amphiscolops. |
