Eight new species and a new name in the genus Elatostema (Urticaceae) on Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia Naturalis

The genus Elatostema J.R. Forst. & G. Forst. (Urticaceae) is a large Palaeotropical group with perhaps 300 or more species. Eight new species are described here, six of which are endemic to Mt Kinabalu, and a new name is established.

A new species of Nearchus (Insecta: Phasmida: Phasmatidae) from Borneo, and a description of the male of N. redtenbacheri Naturalis

Nearchus foliatus spec. nov. is described from a single female specimen collected in eastern Kalimantan in 1925. This species is readily distinguished from others in the genus by the large foliaceous lobes on the legs. A key to the genus is provided. The male and egg of N. redtenbacheri Dohrn are described for the first time; males of this genus have not been recorded previously.

The genus Balanophora (Balanophoraceae) in Sabah, Malaysia Naturalis

A total of five species are included in this treatment of Balanophora (Balanophoraceae) including B. fungosa subsp. fungosa and B. elongata which are new records for Borneo. All five species occur on Mt Kinabalu. We provide brief descriptions, a key to differentiate all five species, as well as illustrations to assist in their identification.
