Leptoiulus (Lamelloiulus) ivanjicae, a new endemic Millipede from the Balkan Peninsula (Diplopoda, Julidae) Naturalis
Curčić, Božidar P.M.; Makarov, Slobodan E..
A new species of the diplopod genus Leptoiulus Verhoeff, 1894: Leptoiulus (Lamelloiulus) ivanjicae nov. spec. is described from western Serbia, Yugoslavia. The diagnostic characters of this millipede are compared to those of its phylogenetically close congeners. Notes are given on the habitat and geographic distribution of this endemic species.

Morphological data, extant Myriapoda, and the myriapod stem-group Naturalis
Edgecombe, Gregory D..
The status of Myriapoda (whether mono-, para- or polyphyletic) and position of myriapods in the Arthropoda are controversial, an impediment to evaluating fossils that may be members of the myriapod stem-group. Parsimony analysis of 319 characters for extant arthropods provides a basis for defending myriapod monophyly and identifying those morphological characters that are necessary to assign a fossil taxon to the Myriapoda. The alliance of hexapods and crustaceans need not relegate myriapods to the arthropod stem-group; the Mandibulata hypothesis accommodates Myriapoda and Tetraconata as sister taxa. No known pre-Silurian fossils have characters that convincingly place them in the Myriapoda or the myriapod stem-group. Because the strongest apomorphies of...

Recovery of some of the missing wrappers of Berlese's Acari, Myriopoda et Scorpiones Naturalis
Hammen, L. van der.
Reproductions are given of the original wrappers of A. Berlese's Acari, Myriopoda et Scorpiones, fasc. II, IV, VI, VII and XIV. These wrappers (on some of which the first descriptions of new species are published) could not be included in the 1979 reprint edition of the work, as no extant copies of them were known at that time.

De miljoenpoot Archiboreoiulus pallidus nieuw voor de fauna van Nederland (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) Naturalis
Berg, M.P.; Kroon, A.; Soesbergen, M.; Tempelman, D..
The millipede Archiboreoiulus pallidus, new to the Dutch fauna (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) Some specimens of the millipede Archiboreoiulus pallidus (Brade-Birks, 1920) were found in April 1996 in ‘het Bovenste Bos’, a deciduous forest south of Epen, in the province of Limburg. Two weeks later, a visit was paid to the collection of the Plant Protection Service and this resulted in a second record of this species. This specimen was found in June 1977 in an agricultural field near Maastricht, about 15 km west of Epen (province of Limburg). This is the first record of A. pallidus for the Dutch fauna. This species is morphologically very similar to Blaniulus guttulatus. The most important characteristics in which A. pallidus differs from B. guttulatus are described...

Naamlijst van de Nederlandse duizendpoten (Myriapoda: Chilopoda) Naturalis
Berg, M.P..
Checklist of the Dutch centipedes (Myriapoda: Chilopoda) An updated checklist for the centipedes of the Netherlands is presented. One species, Lithobius subtilis, is new compared with the previous checklist. The updated list will be used for the project ‘The centipedes of the Netherlands’ of the European Invertebrate Survey - Nederland.

Phenology of Promestosoma boggianii (Diplopoda: Polydesmida: Paradoxosomatidae) in a Neotropical floodplain Rev. Bras. Zool.
Santos-Silva,Lorhaine; Pinheiro,Tamaris G.; Marques,Marinêz I.; Battirola,Leandro D..
ABSTRACT Studies that address biodiversity and its supporting mechanisms in different ecosystems are fundamental to understanding the relationships between species and the prevailing environmental conditions within each habitat type. This study presents information on the phenology of Promestosoma boggianii (Silvestri, 1898) and its association with seasonal flood and dry events in a floodplain of Mato Grosso’s northern Pantanal region, Brazil. Sampling was carried out in three areas located between the Bento Gomes and Cuiabá rivers, on the Porto Cercado Road, Poconé-MT. Each sample area was composed of two treatments: (I) floodable habitats and (NI) non-floodable habitats. Three quadrats (10 x 10 m) were established within each treatment, with sampling...
