Myrmica hirsuta new for the Netherlands (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Myrmica hirsuta is recorded for the first time from the Netherlands. A dealate female was collected in a pitfall trap between 14.v and 16.x.2003 near Nunspeet (Veluwe) in the province of Gelderland. The pitfall was situated in a vegetation of grey hair-grass Corynephorus canescens and hull heather Calluna vulgaris. Both host species Myrmica lonae and M. sabuleti were present in the direct area of the pitfall. Myrmica hirsuta is very rare throughout Europe and up till now unknown from Belgium and the German federal states bordering the Netherlands.
