Low production efficiency and high production costs are the weakness in the SWOT analysis of rice production Thailand. Participatory cost analysis and searching for cost reduction of rice production might strengthen the rice farmers. During 2011 - 2013, we conducted community based pilot trails in the village 5 and 7, Thachang Subdistrict, Muang District, Nakhonnayok Province. After community meeting to identify local rice production problems and selected the pilot field, the field was prepared and planted with pre-germinated seed broadcasting at the rate of 20 kg/ha. Studies of BPH density from light traps were monitored at Prachinburi Rice Research Center and five different farmer fields in Nakhonnayok Province of the following sites: 1) Moo 1 Tha Sai subdistrict Mueang district 2) Moo 7 Tha Chang subdistrict Mueang district, 3) Moo 5 Srisa Krabue subdistrict Ongkharak district, 4) Moo 1 Bueng San subdistrict Ongkharak district and 5) Moo 12 Ban Phrik subdistrict Ban Na district. To attract and trap the brown planthopper (BPH), light was daily turned on between 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. Insect collecting and identification were daily monitored from January 2013 to October 2014. การสำรวจประชากรและประเมินความเสียหายของข้าวที่เกิดจากการทำลายของหนูในพื้นที่ปลูกข้าวจังหวัดนครนายก Thai Agricultural

Rat population in rice field and damage assessments of rice caused by rats were surveyed at Dong Lakhon, Nakhon Nayok Province. Tracking tiles, active burrows counts and traps success were used to access rat species and population. The results showed that the tracking tiles found highest footprints in pre-harvesting stage were 12.60 % in the dry seasons and 18.40 % in the wet seasons. The active burrows counts found highest number of freshly reopened entrances in pre-harvesting stage were 35.05 % in the dry seasons and 40.79 % in the wet seasons.
