Platycheirus aurolateralis, a second sibling of P. scutatus, new for the Netherlands (Diptera: Syrphidae) Recently, two new species were described in the Platycheirus scutatus (Meigen, 1822) complex: P. aurolateralis Stubbs, 2002 and P. speighti Doczkal, Stuke & Goeldlin de Tiefenau, 2002. Re-examination of the material of P. splendidus revealed that P. aurolateralis also occurs in the Netherlands. The Dutch records of both P. aurolateralis and P. splendidus are summarised in a table and a distribution map. A key is provided for the males of all four species of the Platycheirus scutatus complex. The differences between the males are also summarised in a table. The two specimens of P. splendidus recorded from France and Belgium (Smit 2001) are... |

The springtail Axelsonia littoralis new to the fauna of the Netherlands (Hexapoda: Collembola) Axelsonia littoralis (Moniez, 1890) is a rare springtail in Europe. It is recorded here for the first time from the Netherlands. Specimens of this species were found in the littoral zone in the southwestern part in the Netherlands. Several specimens of Axelsonia littoralis were collected at Borssele (province of Zeeland), under a Japanese Oyster growing on a stone in a mud flat in January 2002. The taxonomy and distribution of this species in Europe are treated. |

Daarnaast... |

Everlasting flowers as a vector for exotic insects (Diptera: Tephritidae)? In this paper two rearing occasions of exotic fruit fly species of the genus Terellia are documented. Terellia fuscicornis (Loew, 1844) was reared from a ‘tropical’ plant (probably a thistle species) of unknown origin. Terellia longicauda (Meigen, 1830) was reared from Cirsium rivulare from southern France. On both occasions the plants were left to dry to serve as everlasting flowers. The differences between these exotic and a similar native Terellia-species are given. It is unsure if these introduced species can become established in the Netherlands. |

The eight compilation of Microlepidoptera collected in The Netlierlands covers the year 1994. Six species are recorded for the first time from The Netherlands. Micropterix schaefferi (Micropterigidae) was already collected in May 1977 but was not reported so far. The specimens were caught by sweeping Vaccinium myrtillus. One specimen of Caloptilia suberinella (Gracillariidae) was collected in a light trap in the southwestern part of the country. Two specimens of Monochroa arundinetella (Gelechiidae) were collected at light in the dunes in the province of Noord-Holland. The species is compared with M. suffesella and diagnostic features are described and figured. Scrobipalpula psilella was collected in 1991 in the very south-east of the country... |
