Cover Crops in the Weed Management in Soybean Culture Planta Daninha
SÃO MIGUEL,A.S.D.C.; PACHECO,L.P.; SOUZA,E.D.; SILVA,C.M.R.; CARVALHO,Í.C..
ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of cover crops on weed suppression in no-tillage soybean production systems in Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso. The experiment was carried out in an experimental area and consisted of the evaluation of nine cover treatments and soil management in a randomized complete block design. The treatments were: NT fallow, CT fallow, Crotalaria spectabilis, Crotalaria breviflora, maize + Crotalaria spectabilis, Pennisetum glaucum, Urochloa ruziziensis, Cajanus cajan, sunflower + Urochloa ruziziensis, Stylosanthes, Vigna unguiculata, Urochloa brizantha, maize + Urochloa ruziziensis. The evaluations were carried out before the desiccation for soybean sowing in the crops (10/23/2014) and (09/21/2015), before the...

Cover Crops Effects on Soil Chemical Properties and Onion Yield Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Oliveira,Rodolfo Assis de; Brunetto,Gustavo; Loss,Arcângelo; Gatiboni,Luciano Colpo; Kürtz,Claudinei; Müller Júnior,Vilmar; Lovato,Paulo Emílio; Oliveira,Bruno Salvador; Souza,Monique; Comin,Jucinei José.
ABSTRACT Cover crops contribute to nutrient cycling and may improve soil chemical properties and, consequently, increase crop yield. The aim of this study was to evaluate cover crop residue decomposition and nutrient release, and the effects of these plants on soil chemical properties and on onion (Allium cepa L.) yield in a no-tillage system. The experiment was carried out in an Inceptisol in southern Brazil, where cover crops were sown in April 2012 and 2013. In July 2013, shoots of weeds (WD), black oats (BO), rye (RY), oilseed radish (RD), oilseed radish + black oats (RD + BO), and oilseed radish + rye (RD + RY) were cut at ground level and part of these material from each treatment was placed in litter bags. The litter bags were distributed on the...

Nitrogen doses and water balance components at phenological stages of corn Scientia Agricola
Silva,Monica Martins da; Libardi,Paulo Leonel; Fernandes,Flávia Carvalho Silva.
Determining the intensity of the water balance components in the control volume of a soil, and consequently defining the most likely periods of occurrence of a water deficit in a crop, is an exercise that requires knowledge about soil, climate and plant factors. This research aimed to evaluate soil water balance components at phenological stages of corn (Zea mays L.) under no-till system, when fertilized with 60, 120, and 180 kg ha-1 of nitrogen. The field experiment was carried out in Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil, on a Typic Hapludox. Evaluations were made in the 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 corn cropping seasons, divided over three stages according to the plant's phenology. Runoff was not taken into account. Measurements were made for precipitation...

Nitrogen recovery efficiency for corn intercropped with palisade grass Bragantia
Almeida,Rodrigo Estevam Munhoz de; Favarin,José Laércio; Otto,Rafael; Franco,Henrique; Reis,André Froes Borja; Moreira,Lílian Angélica; Trivelin,Paulo.
ABSTRACT Intercropping corn and palisade grass is a technique to increase straw production, soil C contents, nutrient cycling and crop yield. However, concerns arise from nitrogen (N) uptake by the intercropping crop causing reduction in the yield of the corn. Our objective was to evaluate N recovery efficiency (NRE), and the N dynamics in the soil-plant system in corn intercropped with palisade grass. A field trial was carried out in Bahia, Brazil, evaluating two cropping systems: corn (monoculture) and corn intercropped with palisade grass sowed between rows on the same day as the corn crop, with four replicates in a completely randomized block design. Nitrogen (150 kg∙ha–1of 15N-urea) was applied at sowing to determine NRE, which means the amounts of...
