Diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) of tomato in greenhouse Horticultura Brasileira
Scucuglia,Cesar L; Creste,José E.
Plant nutrition is one of the most important factors for successful cultivation of tomatoes, especially in the greenhouse, and Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) is an alternative for fertilizer recommendation. This study aimed to establish DRIS norms for tomato plants growing in greenhouse located at Norte Pioneiro do Paraná region (Paraná State, Brazil). Chemical analysis of nutrients on leaves (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) of hybrid tomatoes (Colibri, Pizzadoro, Debora Max and Granadero), and respective yields of 61 growing areas in greenhouses (24.4 ha) were used. Samples were collected during April to December 2010, in five cities. Five levels of tomato yield (6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 kg plant-1) were used for establishing a...

Rapid NPK diagnosis in tomato using petiole sap analysis with the DRIS method Horticultura Brasileira
Ávila-Juárez,Luciano; Rodríguez-Ruiz,Mario A.
ABSTRACT One of the factors determining success in tomato production is plant nutrition. The diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) is a tool used to obtain fertilizer recommendations. The objective of this study was to determine DRIS indices using petiole sap analysis (PSA) and compare them with those obtained using leaf analysis in two tomato cultivars grown under greenhouse conditions. A complete randomized design with eight treatments and 60 plants per experimental unit was used. To determine whether employing PSA with the DRIS methodology can provide a reliable diagnosis of fertilization, doses of some elements, such as N, P, or K, were reduced by 30% and supplied to two tomato cultivars, namely, Cid and Moctezuma. The indices for...

Phosphorus-Zinc Interaction and Iron and Manganese Uptake in the Growth and Nutrition of Phalaenopsis (Orchidaceae) Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Novais,Sarah Vieira; Novais,Roberto Ferreira; V.,Víctor Hugo Alvarez; Villani,Ecila Mercês de Albuquerque; Zenero,Mariana Delgado Oliveira.
ABSTRACT: Visual symptoms of Zn deficiency, induced by excessive P applications, have been observed in commercial orchid nurseries. The supply of other metallic micronutrients, such as Fe and Mn, may also be inadequate in the plant due to high application rates of P. The aim of this study was to investigate this interaction in the nutrition of Phalaenopsis plants. Experimental treatments consisted of three P rates (0.0, 0.5, and 1.0 g L-1) and three Zn rates (0.00, 0.35, and 0.70 g L-1), as well as fertilization with other basic nutrients, and a control treatment with the fertilizer B&G Orchidée(r), at 1.0 g L-1. Dry matter production was evaluated, as well as the levels of P, Zn, Fe, and Mn in both shoots and roots. Higher P rates induced higher shoot...

Diagnosis of the Nutritional Status of Garlic Crops Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Cunha,Mário Lúcio Pereira; Aquino,Leonardo Angelo; Novais,Roberto Ferreira; Clemente,Junia Maria; and,Priscila Maria de Aquino; Oliveira,Thaisa Fernanda.
ABSTRACT Univariate methods for diagnosing nutritional status such as the sufficiency range and the critical level for garlic crops are very susceptible to the effects of dilution and accumulation of nutrients. Therefore, this study aimed to establish bivariate and multivariate norms for this crop using the Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) and Nutritional Composition Diagnosis (CND), respectively. The criteria used were nutritional status and the sufficiency range, and then the diagnoses were compared. The study was performed in the region of Alto Paranaíba, MG, Brazil, during the crop seasons 2012 and 2013. Samples comprised 99 commercial fields of garlic, cultivated with the cultivar “Ito” and mostly established in Latossolo...

NUTRIENT DEMAND BY THE CARROT CROP IS INFLUENCED BY THE CULTIVAR Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Aquino,Rosiane Filomena Batista Almeida; Assunção,Natália Silva; Aquino,Leonardo Angelo; Aquino,Priscila Maria de; Oliveira,Guilherme Anthony de; Carvalho,André Mundstock Xavier de.
Farmers must carefully choose the cultivar to be grown for a successful carrot crop. The yield potential of the cultivar may influence nutrient demand and should be known to plan for fertilization application. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cultivar effect on carrot yield and on the nutrient content and quantities allocated to leaves and roots. Three experiments were set up in two crop seasons in Rio Paranaíba, MG, Brazil. In the first season, typical summer, 10 summer cultivars were sown. In the second season, summer-winter (transition), two experiments were set up, one with summer cultivars and the other with winter cultivars. The treatments consisted of the carrot cultivars distributed in randomized blocks with four replications. Fresh and...

Diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) of soybean seed oil content Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Castamann,Alfredo; Escosteguy,Pedro Alexandre Varella; Berres,Diego; Zanella,Silas.
The Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) can improve interpretations of leaf analysis to determine the nutrient status. Diagnoses by this method require DRIS norms, which are however not known for oil content of soybean seeds. The aims of this study were to establish and test the DRIS method for oil content of soybean seed (maturity group II cultivars). Soybean leaves (207 samples) in the full flowering stage were analyzed for macro and micro-nutrients, and the DRIS was applied to assess the relationship between nutrient ratios and the seed oil content. Samples from experimental and farm field sites of the southernmost Brazilian state Rio Grande do Sul (28° - 29° southern latitude; 52° -53° western longitude) were assessed in two growing...

Testing and validation of methods for the diagnosis and recomendation integrated system for Signal grass Scientia Agricola
Silveira,Cristiane Prezotto; Nachtigall,Gilmar Ribeiro; Monteiro,Francisco Antonio.
The Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) allows the interpretation of results of leaf analysis through relationships among nutrients, instead of the absolute and isolated concentration of each one, as it is used by the criterion of sufficiency range. The objective was to evaluate three procedures of calculation of DRIS indices, and to verify the efficiency of DRIS as interpretation method for the results of Brachiaria decumbens (Signal grass). The study was developed with the results of six experiments carried out in a greenhouse at Piracicaba, SP, with nutrient solution. Concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn were used in the samples of recently expanded leaf laminae of the grass. The validation of the DRIS method used...

DRIS standard and normal ranges of foliar nutrients for the culture of ‘Thompson’ atemoya Ciência Rural
Santos,Eduardo Maciel Haitzmann dos; Rozane,Danilo Eduardo.
ABSTRACT: Atemoya, an interspecific hybrid belonging to Annonaceae family, is the outcome of a cross between cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) and Custard apple (Annona squamosa L.). In light of the current shortage of scientific data on the nutritional management techniques for this fruit, the need to develop and apply a specific methodology becomes crucial. From the variety of plant diagnostic tools available, the DRIS method was selected, for use in the commercial cultivation of the ‘Thompson’ cultivar of atemoya located in the São Paulo State, municipalities of Itapetininga, Piedade, Pilar do Sul and Salto de Pirapora. Normal nutrient ranges were determined to interpret the levels of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn in the culture through...
