Nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization of sunflower crop in alkaline Cambisol AGRIAMBI
Braga,Daniely F.; Oliveira,Fabio H. T. de; Santos,Hemmannuella C.; Araújo,Adelson P.; Zonta,Everaldo.
ABSTRACT Sunflower is a crop that has aroused the interest of farmers because of its adaptability to wide climatic conditions and for its use in biodiesel production. However, there are only a few studies on sunflower fertilization in alkaline soils. This study aimed to evaluate nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertilization in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) cultivated in alkaline soil. A field experiment was carried out in Baraúnas-RN, Brazil, in a Haplic Cambisol derived from calcareous rock, where the sunflower H-251 hybrid was cultivated. The treatments were a combination of four doses of N (30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1) and four doses of P2O5 (30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1). Sunflower growth and yield increased with the doses of N and P2O5. Doses of 30 kg...

Mobilisation of reserves during germination of Jatropha seeds Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Lopes,Lineker de Sousa; Gallão,Maria Izabel; Bertini,Cândida Hermínia Campos de Magalhães.
Phanerogam species reserve nutrients in their seeds in order to sustain propagation. Their chemical composition and the way the metabolites are used vary, according to genotype, the environment and the interaction between these factors. As the jatropha is considered a strategic oilseed crop in biofuel production, the aim of this work was to quantify the major reserve components (starch, protein, soluble sugar and lipid) of the jatropha seed and its disposition in the cells during different periods of germination, in order to understand the process of reserve mobilisation and to determine the potentially right time for the extraction of vegetable oil for that species. The seeds were soaked in water for 0; 12; 24; 36; 42; 45 and 48 hours, following a...

Sunflower fertigated with potassium fertilization in two agricultural seasons in the Brazilian semiarid region Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Santos,Allysson Pereira dos; Tartaglia,Francilene de Lima; Souza,Almir Rogerio Evangelista de; Santos,Manoel Galdino dos; Silveira,Lindomar Maria da; Barros Júnior,Aurélio Paes.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of potassium doses on the production components of sunflower cultivars grown in the semiarid climate region. The experiment was carried out in two agricultural seasons, in 2016 and 2017, at the Rafael Fernandes Experimental Farm, Mossoró, RN, Brazil. The experimental design used was randomized blocks, in split plots, with four replicates. Five potassium doses were evaluated in the plots: 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1 of K2O, and four sunflower cultivars were evaluated in the subplots: Aguará 6, Altis 99, Multissol and BRS 122. The evaluated characteristics were: K content in the diagnostic leaf (KDL), thousand-achene weight (TAW), achene yield (AY), oil content (OC) and oil yield (OY)....

Temperatures and qualities of light in Niger ( Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Baptista Gordin,Carla Regina; Quintão Scalon,Silvana de Paula.
Abstract For each vegetable species, there is a specific environment conditions to occur the seed germination process. However, there is a little information regarding the necessary conditions for Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination. The aim of this research was to evaluate the influence of different temperatures and types of light on Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination. Seeds were sown on two sheets of "germitest" paper inside plastic box type "gerbox" and placed on B.O.D. Treatments were constituted of two constant temperatures (15 ºC and 25 ºC, respectively) and an alternating temperature (20-30 ºC) under 10 hours for the lowest temperature and 14 hours for the highest temperature and they were associated to...

Metabolic alterations and X-ray chlorophyll fluorescence for the early detection of lead stress in castor bean (Ricinus communis) plants Agronomy
Nascimento, Clístenes Williams Araújo do; Marques, Marise Conceição.
The remediation of lead-contaminated areas poses a serious challenge to soil chemists because Pb has low solubility in soil. Thus, Pb phytostabilization is considered to be an attractive remediation technique. Castor bean (Ricinus communis) is an oilseed crop known for its tolerance to heavy metals, and our aim was to assess the early detection of Pb toxicity and the effects of Pb on the biomass, photosynthetic pigments, antioxidative enzyme activities, and total soluble proteins of this plant. Specimens were grown in a nutrient solution spiked with Pb concentrations of 25, 50, 100, 150, or 200 µmol L-1. A control without Pb was also grown. The results show that X-ray chlorophyll fluorescence is an efficient technique for the early detection of...

Genetic structure from the oldest Jatropha germplasm bank of Brazil and contribution for the genetic improvement Anais da ABC (AABC)
SANTOS,DALILHIA N. DOS; FERREIRA,JULIANO L.; SETOTAW,TESFAHUN A.; CANÇADO,GERALDO M.A.; PASQUAL,MOACIR; LONDE,LUCIANA C.N.; SATURNINO,HELOISA M.; VENDRAME,WAGNER A..
ABSTRACT Jatropha is a potential oilseed crop, which requires mitigating factors such as the low genetic variability of the species. The solution runs through the research of Brazilian germplasm. Attention should be given to the germplasm of jatropha the north of Minas Gerais, because this is the oldest national collection and because this region may be a regions of jatropha diversity due to selection pressure arising from environmental adversities. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the genetic diversity of 48 accessions of collection from Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (EPAMIG), using SSR and ISSR markers. The results showed low genetic diversity, but some individuals stood out as J. mollissima (48), J. podagrica...
