Superovulatory response, production and quality of embryos of cows fed on linseed or canola seed supplemented diets - doi: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v34i3.13372 Animal Sciences
Albuquerque, Karina Perohouskei; Universidade Estadual de Maringá; Prado, Ivanor Nunes do; Universidade Estadual de Maringá; Prado, Rodolpho Martin do; 9850-7326; Cavallieri, Fábio Luiz Bin; Centro Universitário de Maringá; Rigolon, Luiz Paulo; Universidade Estadual de Maringá; Barbosa, Orlando Rus; Universidade Estadual de Maringá.
Superovulatory response, production and embryo quality and the effects of seasonal changes on embryo production of Nellore cows fed on either linseed (n-3) or canola seeds (n-6) were evaluated. Sixteen Nellore cows (550 ± 48.0 kg) were fed on three diets: control diet (CON), diet with linseed (LIN) and diet with canola seed (CAN) during four seasons. There was no difference in superovulatory response and in total corpora lutea produced when diets are taken into consideration. The number of cows that responded to superovulatory treatment was higher in the winter (93.8%) than in the summer (62.5%). No difference with regard to the three diets existed on the average number of total structures (6.20, 4.96 and 6.50), unfertilized structures (2.53, 1.17 and...

Net energy levels on the lipid profile of pork Ciência Rural
Alencar,Stephan Alexander da Silva; Kiefer,Charles; Nascimento,Karina Márcia Ribeiro de Souza; Viana,Luiz Henrique; Gonçalves,Liliane Maria Piano; Rocha,Gabriel Cipriano; Corassa,Anderson; Santos,Alexandre Pereira dos.
ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of net energy levels on the lipid profile of adipose tissue and muscle of swines. A total of 90 animals, with initial weight of 71.94±4.43kg, were used, and distributed in a randomized block design in five net energy levels (2,300, 2,425, 2,550, 2,675, and 2,800Kcal kg-1 feed), with nine replicates and two animals per experimental unit. Lipid profiles of adipose tissue and muscle were analyzed using gas chromatography. Increasing the levels of net energy using soybean oil, improved the lipid profile of adipose tissue and muscle, increased linearly (P<0.05) the concentrations of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic and α-linolenic acid, reduced linearly (P<0.05) the monounsaturated...

Performance and fatty acid profile of Holstein calves slaughtered at different weights R. Bras. Zootec.
Dias,Ana Maria Osorio; Menezes,Luis Fernando Glasenapp de; Paris,Wagner; Paula,Fabiana Luiza Matielo de; Schmitz,Gean Rodrigo; Souza,Saimon de Souza e; Umezaki,Adriano Moreira; Farias Filho,João de Assis.
ABSTRACT Our objective was to evaluate performance and fatty acid contents of the meat of Holstein veal fed in feedlots and slaughtered at four different pre-determined live weights (140, 180, 220, and 260 kg). Twenty-three non-castrated calves with initial average ages of 58 days and 57 kg live weight were used in this study. Average daily gain, dry matter intake, nutrient intake, cold carcass weight, cold carcass yield, scraps, and fat thickness improved with increasing slaughter weight. However, C18:0, C22:0, C18:2Trans10Cis12, C18:1n9Cis acids, sum of unsaturated fatty acids, and lipid content decreased with the increase in slaughter weight. Raising the slaughter weight of Holstein calves from 144 to 260 kg improves the performance of animals, mainly...
