Physico-chemical and sensory parameters of tomato cultivars grown in organic systems Horticultura Brasileira

The objectives of this research were to perform the physical, chemical and sensorial characterization, for hybrid and open pollinated tomato, within the Santa Cruz and Italian groups, aiming fresh consumption. A total of 14 fresh market tomato cultivars was used, six of them being experimental varieties and eight were commercial ones. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with six replicates and five plants per plot. For the chemicophysical analysis, samples of ripe fruits were randomly extracted from five plants in each plot, labeled and maintained under refrigeration at 5ºC until the next day after harvest. Chai Nat province still has some non-irrigated areas. Farmers in those areas can grow rice once a year with rainfed water. They usually grow good quality rice varieties for consumption in family and neighborhood. “Khao Jek” is local rice variety widely grow in Den Yai and Pri Nok-yung of Hankha district. The cooked eating qualities have soft texture and aroma. It’s the most favorite variety of local farmers. Chai Nat Rice Research Center collected this variety in 2004 and continuously improved by pureline selection, observation, intra-station, inter-station, farmers’ field yield trial, yield stability trial and promising line test. ผลของสาร CPPU ต่อคุณภาพหลังการเก็บเกี่ยวผลมะละกอพันธุ์แขกดำ Thai Agricultural

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of CPPU on postharvest quality of ‘Kaek Dum’ papaya fruit. Fruits at the half-ripe stage were selected to test a dipped treatment with 0, 2 and 4 mg/l CPPU for 60 min. Then, all the samples were stored at 12°C (80-85% RH) for 15 days. The results showed that the fruit dipped in 4 mg/L CPPU had lowest firmness and the peel and pulp color development occurred rapidly than those in the other treatments. No differences in weight loss and membrane degradation when indicated by electrolyte leakage were found between treatments. The results indicated that such a CPPU treatment in papaya fruit may be accelerated fruit ripening.
