The sternal glands of the abdomen of Oxaea flavescens (Klug, 1807) consist of class III glandular cells around a reservoir constituted by branched folds of the intersegmental membrane of segments III, IV and V. The gland cells are rich in rough endoplasmic reticulum and produce a secretion with mucous aspect. The treatment with oxidated osmium and ruthenium red showed numerous Golgi regions in the cell and carbohydrates absorption from the haemolymph, respectively. The high degree of development of the glands suggests an important function to the species, although still unknown. Recently I have seen some bees from the State of Bahia, and because they are relatively rare the opportunity is taken to complete the short description of Oxaea rufa Friese, 1898, and register the new locality for this species and for Oxaea schwarzi Moure & Seabra, 1962. Euglossa (Euglossella) cyanochlora. the largest known Euglossa Latreille, 1802 (length 19,5mm), a visitor of flowers of Solanaceae, is described as new. It is from Itamarajú. on the Southernmost part of Bahia. Euglossa (Euglossa) perfulgens Moure, 1967, belongs in the subgenus Euglossella Moure, 1967. Oxaea mourei, sp.n is described, from Paraná State, Brazil. This new species is most closely related to O. schwarzi. They may be easily distinguished from each other since the hairs in O. mourei are yellow-golden while those of O. schwarzi are mostly black. The eyes of the male in O. schwarzi are strongly convergent above and those of O. mourei are weakly diverging above.
