| As part of a larger project financed by the European Union programme "Community initiative PESCA" on the study of "small scale fisheries" in Aquitaine (France), an estimation of the stock of clams in the Bassin d'Arcachon has been conducted. A two-stage stratified random sampling survey has been designed. Samples have been collected using a Hamon bottom sampler in 237 locations distributed over 24 km2. The clam Tapes philippinarum, which appeared in the basin following a series of aquaculture experiments in the mid eighties, is now the main species accounting for more than 90% of the abundance and the biomass, largely overcoming the European species Tapes decussata. | The Réserve Naturelle Marine (Natural Marine Reserve) of La Réunion island has been created recently (2007) for managing the coral reef of La Réunion West coast. In this area, traditional shore fisheries and spear-fishing are now regulated, controlled and under scientific survey in order to optimize the management of these fisheries, mainly leisure activities. | La "Rivière d'Etel" vaste ria de 2500 ha, a vu naître l'ostréiculture dans ses eaux il y a tout juste un siècle avec l'arrivée de pêcheurs de l'Ile de Groix. Après avoir connu l'élevage des huîtres plates indigènes et des huîtres creuses d'origine portugaise anéanties par plusieurs épizooties, ce centre conchylicole morbihannais s'est essentiellement reconverti à l'élevage et l'affinage des huîtres creuses 'Japonaises". D'autres élevages de coquillages existent tels ceux de coques et de palourdes; 165 professionnels disposent actuellement de 448 ha de Domaine Public Maritime répartis en 745 parcs.
