Expression of PECAM-1 and E-Cadherin in the Umblical Cords of Gestational Diabetic Mothers International Journal of Morphology
Tahaoglu,A. E; Togrul,C; Külahcioglu,M. I; Bademkiran,M. H; Balsak,D; Mavi gök,E; Ekinci,C; Deveci,E.
The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in the umbilical cord in women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus In this study, as a control group human placental tissues from normotensive pregnancies was collected from diabetic women at 2835 weeks of gestation. Gestational diabetes (n= 20) and normal umbilical cord (n= 20) for a total of 40 units were received.GDM groups compared to the control group was significantly higher values was detected (p<0.01). In GDM group, light microscopy showed erosion of the endothelium and complete rupture of theumbilicalvessels resulting in extravasation of blood within Wharton's jelly. it was observed that the cytoplasmic fragments and cell infiltration of the spill to the subepithelial layer of...

Polymorphism C373G of the PECAM-1 Gene in Chilean Subjects with Coronary Disease and Controls International Journal of Morphology
Herrera,Christian L; Jaramillo,Priscilla C; Lanas,Fernando; Salazar,Luis A.
The platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1), a 130-kDa membrane glycoprotein, is expressed on the surface of monocytes, some T-lymphocyte subsets, neutrophils, platelets and endothelial cells. PECAM-1 plays a key role in the transendothelial migration of circulating leukocytes during vascular inflammation. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the association between the C373G polymorphism of the PECAM-1 gene and coronary artery disease in Chilean subjects. A total of 220 individuals were investigated (112 cases and 108 controls). The presence of coronary artery disease was confirmed by angiography (Stenosis >70%). The C373G polymorphism was detected by polymerase chain reaction followed enzymatic restriction. The genotype...

Tissue expression of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 at pre and postnatal murine development Biocell
Calabrese,Graciela Cristina; Wainstok,Rosa.
Endothelial cells, at the cell-cell borders, express PECAM-1, and have been implicated in vascular functions. The monoclonal antibody MEC 13.3 recognizes PECAM-1 molecule from mouse vessels and allows to analyze the ontogeny of mouse endothelium. At the present, little is known about the molecular basis of differentiation pathways of endothelial cells, that enables its morphological heterogeneity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the pattern of PECAM-1 expression, employing monoclonal antibody MEC 13.3, in cellular suspensions obtained from different mouse organs at pre and postnatal stages. Fluorescence activated cell sorter analysis showed a different profile of the glycoprotein expression in a cell population with size and granularity selected...
