Ostracoda and foraminifera from Paleocene (Olinda well), Paraíba Basin, Brazilian Northeast Anais da ABC (AABC)
PIOVESAN,ENELISE K.; MELO,ROBBYSON M.; LOPES,FERNANDO M.; FAUTH,GERSON; COSTA,DENIZE S..
ABSTRACT Paleocene ostracods and planktonic foraminifera from the Maria Farinha Formation, Paraíba Basin, are herein presented. Eleven ostracod species were identified in the genera Cytherella Jones, Cytherelloidea Alexander, Eocytheropteron Alexander, Semicytherura Wagner, Paracosta Siddiqui, Buntonia Howe, Soudanella Apostolescu, Leguminocythereis Howe and, probably, Pataviella Liebau. The planktonic foraminifera are represented by the genera Guembelitria Cushman, Parvularugoglobigerina Hofker, Woodringina Loeblich and Tappan, Heterohelix Ehrenberg, Zeauvigerina Finlay, Muricohedbergella Huber and Leckie, and Praemurica Olsson, Hemleben, Berggren and Liu. The ostracods and foraminifera analyzed indicate an inner shelf paleoenvironment for the studied...

The stratigraphic positions of the Wadi Dukhan and Al Uwayliah formations, northeast Libya – a review Naturalis
Tmalla, A.F.A..
The stratigraphic positions of the Wadi Dukhan and Al Uwayliah formations are reviewed. Diagnostic Maastrichtian larger foraminiferal species from the Wadi Dukhan Formation in well B7 – 41 (Cyrenaica) and in well U2 – 6 (northeastern Sirt Basin) are illustrated for the first time. These species are Omphalocyclus macroporus (Lamarck), Siderolites cf. calcitrapoides Lamarck and Orbitoides cf. media (d’Archiac). Following the rules of nomenclature, the type section of the Al Uwayliah Formation should be considered a composite stratotype. The section east of al Uwayliah village is the holostratotype (upper part of the formation) and the Jardas al Jarrari section is the parastratotype (lower part of the formation). The combined thickness of the two component...

New Late Cretaceous and Early Cenozoic decapod crustaceans from California, USA: implications for the origination of taxa in the eastern North Pacific Naturalis
Nyborg, Torrey G.; Vega, Francisco J.; Filkorn, Harry F..
Recent revision of Cretaceous and Paleocene brachyurans in the collections of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has revealed the presence of several new species. Based upon these fossils and their ages, it is evident that they played a pivotal role in the origination and subsequent dispersal of decapod crustaceans within the eastern North Pacific.
