La dismetría de la pelvis es frecuente en los adolescentes y puede ser un factor que provoque dolores en la columna vertebral y estar asociada a escoliosis funcionales de la región lumbar. Estas disfunciones de la columna vertebral producen incapacidad laboral, son de alta prevalencia en el mundo. Este problema de salud pública es de origen multifactorial afecta a la mayoría de las personas principalmente en la edad media de la vida. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la influencia de la extensibilidad isquiosural en la morfología sagital del raquis e inclinación pélvica en deportistas jóvenes. Métodos. Un total de 152 deportistas (media de edad: 16,22 ± 0,80 años) participaron voluntariamente en este estudio. La morfología sagital de las curvas torácica y lumbar, así como la inclinación pélvica, fueron evaluadas con un Spinal Mouse al realizar los test sit-and-reach, toe-touch y McRae & Wright. La extensibilidad isquiosural fue determinada mediante el test de elevación de la pierna recta (EPR). Macroanatomy of the Bones of Pelvis and Hind Limb of an Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus)

Recent excavated skeleton of an adult female Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus), died in dystokia in Bangladesh was used for macro anatomical study. Some unique morphological features of bones of hind limb were observed. Pelvic canal was more oval and the wings of ilium were wider. Rump slope was about 36°. Aberrant obturator artery (AOA) is an anatomical variation in the origin and course of the obturator artery, which is clinically important because of their vulnerability during surgical procedures performed in the pelvis. This article describes the case of a symmetrical AOA found in both hemipelvises of a male cadaver. Cephalopelvic disproportion in the pelvic inlet is a maternal risk factor in childbirth. A high number of dystocias are attended as emergencies and end in cesarean sections because there is no way to diagnose a narrow pelvis early on, a determination which would be easy to perform and at no cost to the patient. El objetivo principal del estudio fue determinar la morfología del raquis e inclinación pélvica en bipedestación en tres grupos de ciclistas de distintas edades, con un volumen de entrenamiento y experiencia similares. Partial internal hemipelvectomy as rescue therapy in obstipation in four dogs: case report

ABSTRACT Multiple pelvic fractures can lead to narrowing of the pelvic canal and loss of life quality. Hemipelvectomy, characterized by removal of bone fragments from the pelvis, is considered a rescue therapy. This report describes the technique of caudal partial hemipelvectomy in four cases of obstipation secondary to traumatic pelvic canal narrowing in four dogs, with promising results. All patients had tenesmus and fecal retention. After the procedure, the patients presented immediate normochezia and support of the ipsilateral limb after 10 to 20 days, showing the feasibility of the technique in small animals, providing clinical improvement without walking alterations.
