The cross-resistance spectrum in deltamethrin resistance strains of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera: Bostrychidae) Neotropical Entomology

In order to verify if there was cross-resistance in deltamethrin resistance strains of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), experiments were carried out with three insecticides used in stored grain to control pests: permethrin (pyrethroid), pirimiphos-methyl and chlorpyrifos-methyl (organophosphates). Three strains from Brazil (BR4, BR6 and BR7) and one from United Kingdom (UK1) were tested. The strains BR4 and UK1 were susceptible and BR6 and BR7 were resistant to deltamethrin. Initially all strains were assessed in their susceptibility to deltamethrin insecticide. Then, after they were submitted to deltamethrin selection pressure throughout three generations, each strain was assessed with all other insecticides to determine the cross-resistance spectrum. This is the first report on attracticides loaded with 1.6 or 16% pheromone, with or without 6% permethrin, tested for Choristoneura rosaceana (Harris) and Pandemis pyrusana Kearfott male control. Different densities of attracticide sources (750-3,600 droplets ha-1) homogeneously applied on the canopy were compared in apple (Malus pumila Mill.) orchards. Before attracticide application, no differences in male captures using pheromone baited trap were observed. Afterwards, a significant reduction of captures occurred along with the increasing pheromone concentration, when larger density sources were used. The genoprotective activity of resveratrol on permethrin-induced genotoxic damage in cultured human lymphocytes BABT

The aim of this work was to investigate the genetic effects of resveratrol (RSV) at concentrations of 10, 15, 25, 40, 75 and 100 µM and its activities on the genotoxicity induced by the permethrin (PM) (200 µM). After the application of PM and RSV, separately and together, cultured human lymphocytes were assessed by chromosome aberrations (CA) and sister chromatid exchange (SCE) tests. According to results, the frequencies of CA and SCE rates in the peripheral lymphocytes were significantly increased by PM compared with the controls. However, RSV had no genotoxic effect.
