Última Comparative cytogenetic analysis in the species Uroderma magnirostrum and U. bilobatum (cytotype 2n = 42) (Phyllostomidae, Stenodermatinae) in the Brazilian Amazon Genet. Mol. Biol. The genus Uroderma includes two species: U. magnirostrum and U. bilobatum. These species are characterized by their high degree of karyotypic evolution, diverging from most other species of the subfamily Stenodermatinae, which have a lower degree of chromosomic evolution. The present study reports the first banding patterns of U. magnirostrum (G-, C-banding and Ag-NOR) and U. bilobatum (C-banding and Ag-NOR). The chromosomic data in conventional staining of U. magnirostrum (2n = 36, NF = 62) and U. bilobatum (cytotype 2n = 42, NF = 50) are equivalent to that described in the literature. The bat species Platyrrhinus lineatus and P. recifinus (Phyllostomidae: Stenodermatinae) are ecologically important because of their capacity for seed dispersal. P. recifinus is endemic to the Atlantic rain forest and is considered vulnerable by the IUCN. The lack of distinct morphological features makes identification of the two species a difficult task. This study was aimed at testing the hypothesis that these are actually two distinct species by using PCR-RFLP of the mitochondrial cytocrome b gene. The results showed no shared haplotypes, demonstrating that these are, in fact, two distinct species. ABSTRACT This work represents the first report of host-parasite associations between flies of the family Streblidae and their host bats in the Colombian Caribbean region. Specimens were collected in a dry tropical forest in the Sucre department. A total of 17 species (eight genera) of Streblidae, as well as 19 species from five bat families were recorded. Strebla mirabilis, Trichobius costalimai, Trichobius parasiticus and Paradyschiria parvuloides were the most abundant ectoparasites. Prevalence of ectoparasites on bat assemblage was 48.57%. Levantamento das espécies de moscas ectoparasitas de morcego da família Streblidae sobre morcegos da família Phyllostomidae foi realizado na Estação Ecológica de Caetetus, São Paulo. Foram capturados 400 indivíduos de 15 espécies de morcegos filostomídeos, mas somente seis espécies abrigavam 93 indivíduos de nove espécies de Streblidae. A prevalência e intensidade média são apresentadas para cada espécie de Streblidae. Strebla chrotopteri Wenzel, 1976 é registrada pela primeira vez no Estado de São Paulo.
