Production of trichothecenes and other secondary metabolites by Fusarium culmorum and F. equiseti on common laboratory media and a soil organic matter agar: An ecological interpretation Organic Eprints

Fusarium culmorum and F. equiseti were characterized with regard to production of trichothecenes and other secondary metabolites. Results following growth on laboratory media are interpreted with the aim of increasing the understanding of fungal metabolism in the field environment. While trichothecene production was detected for 94 of 102 F. culmorum isolates, only eight of 57 F. equiseti isolates were positive. Profiles of secondary metabolites were compared following growth on Yeast Extract Sucrose agar (YES), Potato Sucrose Agar (PSA) and an agar medium, prepared from Soil Organic Matter (SOM), which was included to simulate growth conditions in soil. Korn der ikke er tørret til lagerfasthed kan angribes af svampe. Svampevækst forringer kornets lugt og smag, og svampenes stofskifteprodukter – de såkaldte mykotoksiner - kan gøre dyr og mennesker syge.

På verdensplan udgør mykotoksin forureninger af korn en risiko for mængde og kvalitet af fødevarer, foder og forarbejdede landbrugsprodukter (Smith et al., 1994). Mykotoksiner er naturlige stoffer, der produceres af svampe. De udløser en toksisk respons – mykotoksicosis - når de indtages af dyr og mennesker. Mange fødevare- og foderbårne svampe producerer et eller flere toksiner. Nogle produceres kun af få arter, andre dannes af mange forskellige arter, der endog kan tilhøre forskellige svampeslægter. Mere end 300 mykotoksiner er identificeret under laboratorieforhold, men kun 20 optræder naturligt i mængder og med frekvenser, så de er til fare for fødevaresikkerheden (Smith et al., 1994). Lagerfähigkeit und Inhaltsstoffe von Möhren aus der biologisch-dynamischen und konventionellen Praxis Organic Eprints

Mit dem Ziel, die Marktsituation für den Verbraucher zu beschreiben, wurden Proben von Speisemöhren des Anbaujahres 1996 aus der biologisch-dynamischen und konventionellen landwirtschaftlichen Praxis gesammelt. Dabei zeichneten sich die biologisch-dynamischen Möhren durch weniger Weichfäule und Verdunkelung im Stresslagertest als die konventionellen aus und geringere Verluste nach 120-tägiger Lagerung unter Praxisbedingungen. Bei den Proben der biologisch-dynamischen Betriebe wurden höhere Trockensubstanzgehalte festgestellt sowie höhere Gehalte an Saccharose und Gesamtzucker; die Nitratwerte der DEMETER-Möhren lagen weit unter denjenigen der konventionellen.
