Residual herbicides increase the period prior to interference in soybean cultivars Planta Daninha
Rizzardi,Mauro A.; Rockenbach,Ana P.; Schneider,Theodoro.
Abstract Background: The pre-emergence herbicides diclosulam and flumioxazin are used to weed control in soybean. We hypothesized management of the new emergence of weeds in the early development stages of the soybean could alter the periods of interference. Thus, the period prior to interference allows and increases the canopy closure spaces before the critical period and disfavors the development of weeds inside the vegetative canopy. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether the period prior to interference of soybean cultivars was altered due to the application of residual pre-emergence herbicides. Methods: Two experiments were conducted with the soybean cultivars ‘NA 5909 RG’ and ‘P95R51’. One day before sowing in the main plots, the...

Chemical Management of Broadleaf Buttonweed and Brazilian Pusley in Different Application Methods Planta Daninha
GALLON,M.; TREZZI,M.M.; PAGNONCELLI JR,F.B.; PASINI,R.; VIECELLI,M.; CAVALHEIRO,B.M..
ABSTRACT: Increased use of glyphosate in transgenic soybean areas has selected resistant and tolerant weed species. The aim of this study was to evaluate chemical management strategies for controlling Borreria latifolia and Richardia brasiliensis at pre-emergence (Pre), early post-emergence (Poste) and late post-emergence (Postl). Six experiments were carried out in a completely randomized design with four replicates per treatment in the Pre experiments and three in the Poste and Postl experiments, for each of the species. In the Pre experiments, tests were performed with herbicides imazethapyr, sulfentrazone, chlorimuron, diclosulam, S-metolachlor and saflufenacil. In the Poste experiments, seedlings were sprayed with herbicides bentazon, fomesafen,...

Chemical Control of Morning Glory Species in Sugarcane Harvested in the Dry and Semi-Wet Seasons1 Planta Daninha
CORREIA,N.M..
ABSTRACT The control of morning glory (Ipomoea spp. and Merremia aegyptia) was evaluated in five commercial sugarcane-production fields receiving applications of the herbicides sulfentrazone (0.9 kg ha-1), amicarbazone (1.4 kg ha-1), imazapic (0.147 kg ha-1), and hexazinone + tebuthiuron (0.325 + 0.75 kg ha-1) applied pre-emergence in either the dry season (July and August) or in the semi-wet season (early October); mesotrione alone (0.192 kg ha-1) or in combination (0.12 kg ha-1) with atrazine (1.5 kg ha-1) or diuron + hexazinone (0.491 + 0.139 kg ha-1) applied post-emergence in the wet season (November), and the phytointoxication of the chemical treatments for sugarcane. Five species of morning glory (Ipomoea hederifolia, Ipomoea nil, Ipomoea quamoclit,...

Experiment on pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide application for weed control in farmer's field conducted in Ban Yangrak, Khokcharoen district, Lopburi province, during August-November 2008. The experiment laid out in RCB, composed of 10 treatments, with 3 replications. The objective of this experiment was to study on the efficiency of herbicides and their effect on field corn, KSX 4901 variety. The results revealed that weed found in the experiment were purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus), wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla), horse purslane (Portulaca oleracea), tropical spiderwort (Commelina benghalensis), running grass (Brachiaria reptans), and jungle rice (Echinichloa colona). The application of 2,4-D, glufosinate, fluroxypyr and paraquat...

Residual herbicides in Roundup Ready soybean: A case study in multiple years and locations with Ipomoea triloba Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Ovejero,Ramiro Fernando Lopez; Picoli Junior,Gilmar José; Takano,Hudson Kagueyama; Palhano,Matheus; Westra,Philip.
ABSTRACT The evolution of glyphosate-resistant and -tolerant weeds has caused changes in weed management around the world. Residual herbicides are crucial tools for weed management, but the rate of adoption by soybean growers remains very low in Brazil. In this research, we used glyphosate tolerant Ipomoea triloba as a model weed species to evaluate the advantages of using residual herbicides on soybeans in multiple years and locations of transition and Cerrado regions of Brazil, rather than relying only on post-emergence control. Most residual herbicides provided enough residual activity to allow a longer application window in post-emergence. Treatments with residual herbicides increased overall weed control, preventing weed interference and increasing...
