FINITE SAMPLE PROPERTIES OF NONSTATIONARY BINARY RESPONSE MODELS: A MONTE CARLO AND RESPONSE SURFACE ANALYSIS AgEcon
Riddel, Mary C..
This paper investigates the finite sample distributions of maximum likelihood estimators for nonstationary probit models. We find that, analogous to standard OLS models, commonly used tests statistics almost always reject the null hypothesis of no relationship between xt and a latent yt, even when they are, in fact, generated by independent random walks. However, if cointegrating relationships are present in the model, parameter distributions are better behaved and standard z and Wald test statistics are consistent.

Determinants of the Extension of Part-time Farming--Results from a Probit Approach AgEcon
Harsche, Johannes.
This paper presents a Probit model explaining the employment decisions of farmers located in the German State of Hesse. The model is based on a cross-section analysis including data from 74 Hessian farmers. It indicates empirically a strong impact from wages on employment decisions of farmers. It also verifies the importance of the personal type of entrepreneur for their working behaviour. Finally, we can conclude that, regarding working behaviour, farmers react to signals from the labour market conditions as well as to the structural transformation process in the agricultural sector.

Landlord Satisfaction with Arkansas Agricultural Land Agreements AgEcon
Rainey, Ronald L.; Dixon, Bruce L.; Parsch, Lucas D.; Ahrendsen, Bruce L.; Bierlen, Ralph W..
Landlord satisfaction levels with agricultural land-leasing agreements are examined with a 1998 sample of Arkansas landowners. Ordered probit models are estimated identifying which factors significantly affect satisfaction levels. Results indicate that the type of lease is not a significant determinant of landlord satisfaction levels. Proportion of landlord’s income from leasing, tenant educational background, social capital variables, presence of irrigation equipment, and perceptions about the FAIR Act were found to significantly affect lease satisfaction in at least one of the three satisfaction models estimated. A comparison with an earlier study of Arkansas tenants indicates landlords have generally higher satisfaction levels.
