The work performed in this study is concerned with the characterization of glass/polyester composites for the pleasure boat industry. In particular the properties of polyester resins limiting styrene emissions have been evaluated. Physico-chemical and mechnanical tests were first performed in order to understand the roles played by the constituants (matrix, fibres and fibre/matrix interface). Then a study of damage mechanisms, delamination and impact resistance, was carried out on composite specimens. Durability and the influence of the marine environment was also examined through two parameters, temperature and sea water aging. Etude complémentaire des caractéristiques des vases dans le bassin de Marennes-Oléron ArchiMer
LHF - Laboratoire d'Hydraulique de France; IFREMER - Laboratoire LABEIM La Tremblade.
Par le contrat n° 92 5 526050 du 20 octobre 1992, l'IFREMER a demandé au LHF une étude sur les caractéristiques mécaniques de vases et biodépôts dans le bassin de Marennes·Oléron. Cette étude consiste en l'exécution et l'interprétation d'essais sédimentologiques visant à mieux définir ces caractéristiques mécaniques. Elle a été réalisée par une équipe du Département Portuaire et Côtier de SOGREAH Ingénierie snc. Les travaux de recherche présentés dans ce rapport s'intègrent dans le programme Charente-Marennes-Oléron, programme de recherche coordonnée pour l'analyse et la modélisation de l'écosystème du bassin de la Charente et de la zone littorale associée. Glass-fiber reinforced polyester composites with gelcoat are widely used in nautical construction despite the lack of knowledge concerning their durability when immersed in water. This study deals especially with the influence of the osmotic process of degradation on the evolution of the mechanical properties of orthotropic materials, subjected to accelerated ageing tests. This evolution is experimentally evaluated by performing a non destructive test procedure, the vibrational modal analysis, whose results are additionally confirmed by quasi-static mechanical tests (bending and shear).
