The economic analysis of data collected in 60 organic farms all over Germany supplies contribution margins of soybeans and alternative cash crops for the years 2014 and 2015. In 2014 soybeans with an average yield of 24 dt/ha show good economic competitiveness, especially compared to wheat and grain peas. In contrast, the economic success of soybeans in 2015 is worse, mainly caused by a drought during their vegetation period in some regions. While the average of variable costs and producer prices almost remain at the same level, the major factor affecting the contribution margin was the soybean yield varying in wide range. The supply situation for Welsh organic arable production Organic production in Wales has been developing steadily in the last five years, with particular emphasis on organic cattle and sheep production. This was despite over-supply conditions in some sectors, notably dairy, following the very rapid growth in 1999/2000. The area of organic arable production has tracked this increase albeit at a lower level. It is also a more complex situation than might be thought because of the different ways in which a cereal crop or mixture might be harvested. This sector is one of the least surveyed in the UK with the exception of the annual Scottish Organic Market Link Producer Survey carried out by SAC with SEERAD funding. The collect sector of the organic winter wheat is in deep evolution following a widening of the outlets, on arrival of new operators resulting from the conventional sector and with a strong fluctuation in prices. The technological quality of organic wheat is predicted, in a restrictive way, from the protein content of the grains. The requirements of food safety and traceability lead to an increase in controls, beyond the constraints of certification. The consolidation of the wheat-flour-bread chain in France induces (I) a reinforcement of the partnerships amongst the actors, (II) the definition of new criteria to assess the quality adapted to organic production but also, (III) new investments from collectors to guarantee technological quality and safety...
