| Ornamental plants have beencultivated in Alagados Construidos (SACs) in view of the economic and landscape benefits they can bring, besides the satisfactory efficiency in the removal of pollutants from wastewater. The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of SACs grown with ornamental plants and the influence of vegetation on the removal of pollutants from swine wastewater. The SACs were submitted to an organic loading rate of 100 kg ha-1d-1 swine wastewater, based on the mean value of the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of the wastewater.
