The production of compact plants, which are slightly lacking in vigor and as productive as conventionally sized plants, is a trend in fruit growing. The objective of this study was to evaluate the vegetative performance and fruit quality of Gulfblaze and Reubennel plums intergrafted into two peach genotypes (UFV 186 and UFV 286). The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design using a 3x2 factorial arrangement (interstocks x cultivar) with four replications and one plant per plot. The non-intergrafted treatment was considered the control. Ten fruits were collected per plot for physical and chemical analyses. The evaluations were performed in the years 2014 and 2015. Compatibility and horticultural performance of Pera sweet orange clones grafted to Swingle citrumelo rootstock Bragantia

Silicon nutrition counteracts salt-induced damage associated with changes in biochemical responses in apple Bragantia

ABSTRACT Salt stress is an environmental challenge that adversely influences plant responses. Silicon (Si) nutrition plays critical roles in plant tolerance to salt stress. Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.), a salt sensitive fruit species, was used in the present experiment to investigate the influences of Si on salt stress as well as on alterations of biochemical responses. Apple cv Fuji grafted on M9 clonal rootstock was exposed to salt stress for 4 months with 35 mmol·L-1 NaCl. CaSiO3 doses (0.5, 1 and 2 mmol·L-1) were applied to the roots of the salt-stressed apple plants except control. Si application resulted in mitigation of salt stress in apple plants. Influence of cultivar and rootstock on early growth and syllepsis in nursery trees of pear (Pyrus communis L., Rosaceae) BABT

A two-year field study was conducted to examine the capacity of spontaneous formation of long sylleptic shoots (LSS) in nursery trees of pear cvs. 'Abbé Fétel', 'Conference' and 'Starking Delicious' grafted on Quince MA (MA) and Quince BA 29 (BA 29) rootstocks in a nursery during the first year after bud grafting. Tree height (TH), trunk diameter (TD) - 10 cm above the bud union and number of LSS were measured at the end of each season. The TH was measured from the ground level. The highest number of LSS was developed by cv. 'Abbé Fétel' in both the seasons, and the lowest by cv. 'Starking Delicious'. Growth, yield, and fruit quality of 'Rhode Red Valencia' and 'Valencia Late' sweet oranges grown on three rootstocks in eastern Mediterranean Chilean J. Agric. Res.

The plant growth, yield, yield efficiency, and fruit quality of 'Rhode Red Valencia' and 'Valencia Late' sweet oranges (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) on three rootstocks were evaluated under Eastern Mediterranean climatic conditions of Dortyol-Hatay, which is one of the oldest and largest citrus and mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco) production regions in Turkey. The fruit yield was affected by rootstock in both scion cultivars from 2007 through 2010. Trees on 'Troyer' citrange had lower yield than those budded on the other rootstocks. The yield of 'Rhode Red Valencia' and 'Valencia Late' orange trees on 'Carrizo' citrange were about 9% and 19% more than those on 'Troyer' citrange, respectively. CitEST project resulted in the construction of cDNA libraries from different Citrus sp. tissues under various physiological conditions. Among them, plantlets of Rangpur lime were exposed to hydroponic conditions with and without water stress using PEG6000. RNA from roots was obtained and generated a total of 4,130 valid cDNA reads, with 2,020 from the non-stressed condition and 2,110 from the stressed set. Bioinformatic analyses measured the frequency of each read in the libraries and yielded an in silico transcriptional profile for each condition. Com base nos resultados positivos do emprego de 2,4-D associado ao Thiabendazol no enraizamento de mudas na fase "palito", superando inclusive o AIB l000 ppm, testou-se a sua utilizacao no enraizamento de tocos enxertados de seringueira e, se viavel, indica-los como sucedaneos do AIB por serem de baixo custo e mais facil aquisicao.

Efeito do espaçamento sobre o crescimento e produção de porta-enxerto de seringueira. Infoteca-e

Pela analise dos dados de produtividade e lucro bruto, constatou-se que para producao de mudas de seringueira do tipo toco-enxertado de raiz nua, pelo metodo de enxertia verde, o melhor espacamento em viveiro, tecnica e economicamente para a producao de porta-enxertos, e' de 60cm x 15cm, enquanto que para producao de mudas pelo metodo de enxertia convencional o melhor espacamento e' de 70cm x 15cm, seguido de perto por 60cm x 15cm. Os valores de produtividade e lucro obtidos com esses espacamentos foram superiores aos obtidos com o espacamento tradicional de 100cm x 50cm x 30cm. O custo medio de producao de porta-enxerto foi menor para os espacamento de 60cm x 15cm e 70cm x 15cm, para ambos os metodos de enxertia.

Controle da murcha bacteriana através da enxertia com solanáceas nativas. Infoteca-e

Testaram-se algumas espécies de solanáceas nativas como porta-enxerto para tomate na tentativa de se encontrar uma que alie bom índice de pegamento com boa produção, resistência a murcha e boa qualidade dos frutos. Das seis espécies nativas testadas, Solanacea paniculatum foi a que melhor se portou como porta-enxerto, apresentando índice de pegamento de 64%.

A enxertia em porta-enxertos de tres a quatro meses de idade, com caule de espessura muito fina, e' muito dificil pelo metodo usual de abertura de janela com canivete, ou mesmo com lamina de barbear. Concebeu-se, entao, a ideia de um riscador composto com ponta de agulha de costura fina e de outra mais grossa, com o fundo deixado para baixo, servindo de apoio e guia, deslizando encostada ao caule. Com essa ferramenta, a operacao de riscar o porta-enxerto tornou-se bastante facil e rapida, com um rendimento de oito porta-enxertos por minuto, comparado ao de tres porta-enxertos por minuto com a operacao feita com canivete.
