| Proteins from young unexpanded leaves of seven cassava cultivars Manihot esculenta, Crantz (Euphorbidaceae) were investigated through sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The comparison was made through the protein patterns obtained, and their relative amounts determined in plants leaves infected or not with the bacteria Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. manihotis. The electrophoretic protein pattern obtained from the investigated cultivars (“Fibra”, “Fécula Branca”, “Branca de Santa Catarina”, “Verdinha”, “IAC-12”, “IAC-13”, and “IAC-14”) showed a polypeptide subunit present exclusively in the “Fécula Branca” cultivar, with a molecular weight of 93.5 kDa. | ABSTRACT In this study, we are presenting recommendations to the best agricultural use as well as for plant breeding of three millet cultivars namely ENA1 and ENA2, which have African origin, and BRS1501 originally from India. These cultivars were evaluated for growth, yield and grain quality traits. The morphological traits evaluated in this study indicated that the African genotypes ENA1 and ENA2 are better than the Indian genotype BRS1501 for no-till farming or to produce forage with 15% of crude protein at flowering and at harvest to produce stover (around 7% of crude protein content) for livestock feeding. | RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi procurar proteínas de fase aguda que possam indicar sinais de maturação no neonato prematuro, por meio da quantificação sérica delas. | The serum protein concentrations of brown brocket deer (Mazama gouazoubira) obtained by agarosis gel and sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide (SDS-PAGE) gel were determined from blood samples of ten adult healthy animals (six females and four males), monthly collected in the morning, during 12 months. The animals, maintained in individual stable and protected from noise, received ad libitum a diet of comercial ration and green roughage. Serum protein concentrations in agarosis gel revealed the presence of four protein fractions: albumin, alphaglobulin, betaglobulin, and gammaglobulin. | The serum protein concentration of newborn Holstein calves determined by means of sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide (SDS-PAGE) was studied. Blood samples from 40 healthy newborn calves were obtained 48 hours after birth. Calves had been given 3 liters of colostrum within 2 hours after birth, following by dose corresponding by 15% of animal weight each 24 hours. | Estudou-se o perfil eletroforético das proteínas séricas de bovinos sadios da raça Curraleiro por meio da técnica de eletroforese em gel de acrilamida contendo dodecil sulfato de sódio. Utilizaram-se amostras de soro sanguíneo de 228 bovinos da raça Curraleiro, 51 machos e 177 fêmeas, com idades entre sete meses e 12 anos, pertencentes a dois rebanhos localizados nos Estados de Goiás e Tocantins. | Objetivou-se estudar a morfometria corpórea, as características do sêmen, o perfil proteico do plasma seminal em SDS-PAGE e a concentração sérica de testosterona em cervos-sambar (Cervus unicolor), criados em cativeiro, na estação reprodutiva da primavera. | Colletotrichum truncatum is the most common pathogen fungus associated with soybean anthracnose. Although the lignin-degrading enzyme laccase has been implicated in pathogenicity of a wide range of plant pathogenic fungi, its biological role in the Colletotrichum -soybean disease system is unknown. The extent of the infection in our country led us to examine laccase production in Argentinean Colletotrichum strains isolated from diseased soybean plants from different geographic locations. | ABSTRACT The rhizosphere zone has been defined as the volume of soil directly influenced by the presence of living plant roots or soil compartment influenced by the root. During the growing season of 2014, the rhizobacteria of 23 sugar beet plants sampled from 12 sites in the west and north west of Iran were inventoried. Using a cultivation-dependent approach, a total of 217 bacteria were isolated from the rhizosphere. | We have characterized, in the Paracoccidioides brasiliensis yeast phase, an exocellular SH-dependent serine proteinase activity against Abz-MKRLTL-EDDnp and analogous fluorescent-quenched peptides, and showed that it is also active against constituents of the basement membrane in vitro. In the present study, we separated the components of P. brasiliensis culture filtrates by electrophoresis and demonstrated that the serine-thiol exocellular proteinase has a diffuse and heterogeneous migration by SDS-PAGE, localizing in a region between 69 and 43 kDa. | Sichuan basin, situated in the west of China, is the fourth biggest basin in China. In order to describe a systematic study of the cry2-type genes resources from Bacillus thuringiensis strains of Sichuan basin, a total of 791 Bacillus thuringiensis strains have been screened from 2650 soil samples in different ecological regions. The method of PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to identify the type of cry2 genes. | The aim of the present research was to evaluate the protein polymorphism degrees among forty-eight C. albicans isolates from fourteen anatomical sites of clinical patients by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and numerical analyzes, in order to identify subspecies and their similarities in some infectious niches. | Electrophoretic protein profiles of Campylobacter jejuni subsp. jejuni strains isolated from feces of seven animal species, including man, were compared. Fourteen strains (two from each species) plus two human strains and the reference one, were ruptured by ultrasound and their total soluble proteins were analyzed by SDS-PAGE technique in a 12% polyacrylamide gel with computerized densitometric reading by the molecular analyst software.
