Morphological characterization and germination of seeds of Casearia decandra PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Haliski, Sérgio Luis; Cosmo, Nelson Luiz; Gogosz, Alessandra Mara; Rego, Suelen Santos; Nogueira, Antonio Carlos; Saito Kuniyoshi, Yoshiko.
This study aimed at to characterize morphologically the fruits, seeds and seedling development of Casearia decandra and examine the best substrate and temperature for seed germination. The fruits were collected from 13 mothers in the municipality of Irati, Parana State, Brazil. Tests were conducted to determine the weight of 1,000 seeds, number of seeds per kilogram and the seeds moisture content. To test the influence of different substrate and temperature on germination it was tested four temperatures: 20 ºC, 25 ºC, 30 ºC and 35 ºC on four substrates: sand, paper towels, roll paper and vermiculite. The fruit is spherical, with dry pericarp, thin, with glabrous , smooth, and light yellow surface. The seed presents ellipsoid shape, chartaceous, creamy and...

Redescription of Rhytidodus decimusquartus (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Idiocerinae) and new distributional records from Argentina Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Paradell,Susana L.; Dellapé,Gimena.
Rhytidodus decimusquartus (Schrank) is the only representative of the subfamily Idiocerinae in Argentina, which inhabits on "poplars" in the western part of Mendoza, Neuquén and Río Negro provinces. In this contribution, we provide a detailed morphological redescription of this species for easy identification from material collected in Argentina; some characters of the female genitalia are described for the first time. Additionally, new records from the southeastern region of this country are provided.

Feeding preferences of the willow sawfl y Nematus oligospilus (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) for commercial Salix clones Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Loetti,Verónica; Rubio,Alejandra; Bellocq,María Isabel.
Nematus oligospilus Förster (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) is a willow sawfly native to the Northern Hemisphere which became a serious defoliator in willow plantations (Salix spp.) of the Southern Hemisphere after being introduced in the early 1980´s. Studies on host preferences provide useful information for the development of pest management strategies where the willow sawfly may produce tree damage and economic loss. Feeding preferences of N. oligospilus larvae were evaluated in laboratory trials by simultaneously offering leaves from four willow tree clones commonly used in commercial plantations in Argentina (Salix babylonica var sacramenta Hortus, Salix nigra Marsch., S. babylonica L. x Salix alba L. 131-27 and Salix matsudana Koidz. x S. alba L....
