The larvae were collected under the bark of fallen trees in an area near the tropical rain forest at Ilha da Marambaia (23º 04'15''S-43º53'59''W-sea level) and Cabo Frio (22º52'46''S-42º01'07''W-4 m), State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Biological notes are presented. The larva of Popanomyia femoralis and puparium of Engicerus major are compared with those of Chalcidomorphina aurata Enderlein, Cosmariomyia argyrosticta Kertész, Dactylodeictes lopesi Lindner and Vittiger schnusei Kertész, other species of the same subfamily. The puparium of Manotes plana Kertész, 1916 is described based on the exuviae of six larvae collected under the bark of a plant in early state of decomposition in the Ilha da Marambaia (23°04'15"S, 43°53'59", at sea level), state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The external morphology and chaetotaxy is compared with the previously described puparium of Manotes crassimanus James, 1980. The texture and shape of the setae of M. crassimanus are plumose and some setae are claviform while M. plana are setiform. In M. plana the ventro-craneal furrow extends from the posterior region of the mouthparts until the median region of the head. In M. crassimanus, the furrow extends until the posterior third of the head. No diferrence occurs in position in the puparia of both... The larva of Cosmariomyia argyrosticta Kertész, 1914 and the puparium of Dactylodeictes lopesi Lindner, 1964 are described for the first time, based on four larvae and 10 puparia and one puparium respectively. Larvae were collected under the bark of fallen trees in an area near of tropical rain forest at Iguaba Grande (22º50'21"S, 42º13'44"W, 18 m) and Buzios (22º44'49"S, 41º52'54"W, 3 m), State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Some biological notes are also presented. The larvae of Cosmariomyia argyrosticta and Dactylodeictes lopesi are compared with Chalcidomorphina aurata Enderlein, 1914 and Vittiger schnusei Kertész, 1909.
