This study aimed to quantify and compare water balance components over the course of a year for different Pinus taeda planting densities in an oxisol in southern Brazil. This experiment was conducted on 6-year-old trees in a clay oxisol at the Monte Alegre Farm, a property of the Klabin Company. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replicates and five treatments with different amounts of soil coverage: T100 (100% coverage - standard planting coverage); (T75, 75; T50, 50; and T25, 25%), and; T0 (without cover - clearcutting). The present work had the objective of evaluating the effect of different line spacing upon some agronomic parameters of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) culture. The experiment was conducted in county of Palotina, in the west region of Paraná State, Brazil. The studied spacing were 0.8, 1.0, 1.4 e 1.6 m between lines and 0.6 m between plants, which rendered population densities of 20,830, 16,660, 13,880, 11,900 and 10,410 plants/ha. For the production of fresh and dry root matter and stem fresh matter, the best space between lines was 1.0 m. The highest number of tuberous roots per plant, obtained with the space of 1.40 m between lines did not guarantee the highest productivity of root matter/ha. The influence of plant population (31,250 and 46,875 plants ha-1) and nitrogen doses (0, 100, 200, and 300 kg ha-1) on the accumulation of macronutrients by cabbage plants was studied in Jaboticabal, Brazil, from February 18 to June 2, 2004. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in a 2 × 4 factorial scheme, with three replications. Differences in the amount of macronutrients accumulated by cabbage as function of N dose and plant population, were observed. The largest amounts of macronutrients were detected at the end of the plant cycle when the plant population was the lowest. ABSTRACT Brazilian watermelon productivity is not efficient when compared to the largest producer countries, due to abiotic and biotic factors. Some of the difficulties are because of a small number of studies on this crop in Brazil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of plant density and fruit thinning on two commercial watermelon hybrids (Talisman and Youlie), using trials which were carried out in two different seasons (April - July and August - November). Production of mini vegetables in organic system is a good alternative to improve profit, but there are no researches about the optimum plant density for these cultivars in Brazilian conditions. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the production of mini lettuce cultivars in different plant densities. ABSTRACT Yacon is a crop which requires development of strategies for its cultivation. One of the possibilities is to introduce yacon in perennial crops using intercropping system. The aim of this study was to evaluate different planting densities of yacon grown in intercropping with corn under banana orchard, verifying its development and production. At 90 days after planting, morphological and physiological evaluations were done, at 210 days yacon was harvested, and its productivity calculated using the fresh tuberous root production. Pela analise dos dados de produtividade e lucro bruto, constatou-se que para producao de mudas de seringueira do tipo toco-enxertado de raiz nua, pelo metodo de enxertia verde, o melhor espacamento em viveiro, tecnica e economicamente para a producao de porta-enxertos, e' de 60cm x 15cm, enquanto que para producao de mudas pelo metodo de enxertia convencional o melhor espacamento e' de 70cm x 15cm, seguido de perto por 60cm x 15cm. Os valores de produtividade e lucro obtidos com esses espacamentos foram superiores aos obtidos com o espacamento tradicional de 100cm x 50cm x 30cm. O custo medio de producao de porta-enxerto foi menor para os espacamento de 60cm x 15cm e 70cm x 15cm, para ambos os metodos de enxertia. |
