Spray deposition and chemical control of the coffee leaf-miner with different spray nozzles and auxiliary boom REA
GITIRANA NETO,JEFFERSON; CUNHA,JOÃO P. A. R. DA.
ABSTRACT The coffee crop requires great spray ability to penetrate into the plant canopy during the application of pesticides. The aim of this study was to evaluate the spray deposition on leaves of coffee plants and the chemical control of the leaf miner provided by the application of different spray nozzles, with and without the use of an auxiliary boom. The deposition on the upper, middle and lower parts of the plants and the losses to the soil were evaluated using a tracer quantified by spectrophotometer. We also evaluated the chemical control of the leaf miner, counting the larvae, after the application of the insecticides cartap and fenpropathrin. The trial was carried out in a randomized block design, with four replications, in a factorial model...

News Techniques for the Application of Herbicides on Soybean Crops Planta Daninha
PEREIRA,C.S.; LIMA,C.; MEDEIROS,A.L.; ARANTES,S.A.C.M.; ASSIS,R.P.; FIORINI,I.V.A.; CARVALHO,G..
ABSTRACT: There is a need for an increase nin efficiency and a reduction in the risk of environmental contamination in controlling weeds; this can be obtained with the development of the new techniques for the application of herbicides. The objective was to verify the efficiency of different herbicide application techniques on soybean crops (Glycine max (L.) Merrill). The experiment was conducted in a commercial area in the municipality of Sinop, Mato Grosso state. The design was a randomized block, with four replications and six treatments, namely: herbicide application with a manual backpack sprayer; application with an acrylic wool roll with 9 mm long hairs; sheep’s wool roller with 9 mm long hairs; high density polyester foam roller; weeding with a hoe...

Spray deposition and losses in potato as a function of air-assistance and sprayer boom angle Scientia Agricola
Scudeler,Fábio; Raetano,Carlos Gilberto.
Within the Brazilian agricultural scene, the potato crop plays a significant economic role. Modern equipment and the development of improved chemical product application techniques contribute toward the constant search for improved revenue from the potato as a crop. Field experiments were carried out in a random block design of a potato crop of the "Ágata" variety. The aim was to evaluate the effect of air assistance combined to different angles of spray application on the chemical deposition on the potato plant, as well as to assess spray losses to the soil. For this a sprayer with and without boom air assistance was used in the experiments. Boom angles of 0º, +30º and -30º were directed to a vertical position as well as forward and backward movements....

Invertase and sucrose synthase activities in coffee plants sprayed with sucrose solution Scientia Agricola
Silva,José Carlos da; Alves,José Donizeti; Alvarenga,Amauri Alves de; Magalhães,Marcelo Murad; Livramento,Dárlan Einstein do; Fries,Daniela Deitos.
One management practice of which the efficiency has not yet been scientifically tested is spraying coffee plants with diluted sucrose solutions as a source of carbon for the plant. This paper evaluates the effect of foliar spraying with sugar on the endogenous level of carbohydrates and on the activities of invertase and sucrose synthase in coffee (Coffea arabica L.) seedlings with reduced (low) and high (normal) levels of carbon reserve. The concentrations used were 0.5 and 1.0% sucrose, and water as a control. The use of sucrose at 1.0% caused an increase in the concentration of total soluble sugars in depauperate plants, as well as increased the activity of the following enzymes: cell wall and vacuole acid invertase, neutral cytosol invertase and...
