Bico pneumático eletrostático para aplicação de inseticidas biológicos em floresta de eucalipto. Infoteca-e
CHAIM, A.; LARANJEIRO, A. J.; CAPALBO, D. M. F..

Performance evaluation of injection metering systems AGRIAMBI
Antuniassi,Ulisses R.; Miller,Paul; Paice,Mark.
A method for measuring the performance of agricultural injection metering systems was developed and used to assess the characteristics of three commercial system designs. Steady-state characteristics were measured using both colored dyes and salt as tracers. Dynamic response characteristics were determined by measuring salt concentration downstream of the injection point by monitoring electrical conductivity of the spray solution. Salt added to a viscous test liquid changed viscosity slightly only at low shear rates and it is concluded that this liquid is appropriate for use in evaluation tests with injection systems. Results from tests with 2 systems specifically designed for operation with agricultural sprayers gave a linear response with both water and...

Physiological evaluation of manual operated weeders and sprayers on farm use CIGR Journal
ARUDRA, ASHOK KUMAR.
Ergonomics is the scientific study of relationship between man and his working environment, which includes ambient conditions, tools and materials, methods of work and organization of work. Two sprayers and weeders namely, knapsack sprayer, foot operated sprayer, wheel hoe and power weeder were evaluated with respect to overall tiredness and body part discomfort experience by the subjects while spraying and weeding in field.Nine agricultural workers who were free from cardiac and other ailments were selected for operating weeders and sprayers. A polar heart rate monitor was used to measure physiological response of the operators during field operation. During the experiments, the external parameters of ambient temperature and relative humidity and light...

Evaluation of Low-Drift Nozzles in Agrochemical Applications in Orchards Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Behmer,Sergio; Di Prinzio,Alcides; Striebeck,Guillermina; Magdalena,Jorge.
Fruit production demands several phytosanitary treatments per year. The efficiency of these treatments is affected by product loss because of drift, a situation that is aggravated by frequent high winds and the presence of a substantial rural population. The objective of this study was to evaluate the distribution and to quantify product losses in fruit orchard applications. Fluorescent tracers with air-blast sprayers were applied, using air-induction hollow cone nozzles, compared to conventional hollow cone nozzles. To evaluate drift, pipes cleaner were placed on columns behind the adjacent row to the treated one, and for the losses under the tree, Petri dishes were located below the treated row; for the distribution in the tree, leaves were collected...

Effect of Pressure on the Quality of Pesticide Application in Orchards Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Di Prinzio,Alcides; Behmer,Sergio; Magdalena,Jorge; Chersicla,Germán.
Only part of the active ingredient used in agrochemical applications in orchards is retained on the trees. The product that is not retained is lost as sedimentation in the soil and as drift, the latter being a major source of environmental pollution. Unfavorable atmospheric conditions affect the uniformity of distribution and increase product loss. This can be mitigated by the utilization of larger drops. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effect of service pressure on distribution in the trees and product loss by using a conventional hydro pneumatic sprayer. A fluorescent tracer was applied on fruit trees by an airblast sprayer, with two treatments: high pressure (1800 kPa) and low pressure (500 kPa). Samples were collected from the...
