The aim of this work was to evaluate the seedling growth of Eucalyptus badjensis Beuzev. & Welch in substrata prepared from different residues: pulp and paper mill wastes (organic sludge and cellulose mill liquid alkaline liquor), brewery malt and also goat manure. The experiment was carried out in the seedlings nursery of the Embrapa Florestas, in Colombo, Paraná. The organic sludge, cellulose mill liquid alkaline liquor and the brewer’s grain were previously composted with sawdust, and goat dung with pinus bark. A randomized blocks design with split-plot arrangement, with four replications was used. Plot treatments were the substrata and split-plot were base fertilization (with and without): 1) mixture of a commercial substratum prepared with... |

The aim of the study was to assess the influence of season and different substrates on rooting of air layers of lychee (Litchi chinensisSonn.) for the production of seedlings to ensure the formation of uniform and productive orchards. Air layers were done in plants of the Bengal cultivar using leafy and healthy woody branches, with about 0.010 to 0.015 m in diameter, in which were performed complete girdling with 0.020 m wide at a distance of 0.30 to 0.40 m below the apex. Then the branches were wrapped in moistened substrate. The layering was made at six times of theyear (January, March, May, July, September and November) and two substrates were used (coconut fiber and sphagnum) in a 6 x 2 factorial design in a randomized block with ten replicates. After... |

Abstract The objective of this study was to verify levels of shade and doses of earthworm humus in the production of Lactuca canadensis L. seedlings. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4 x 5 factorial scheme (four levels of shade and five doses of humus). The different levels were obtained using black polyethylene screen with 35, 50 and 70% shade and in full sun. The substrates were obtained by mixing commercial substrate for vegetables (Vivatto Slim ® plus), with earthworm humus in the proportions of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60%. There was no seedlings emergence in the full sun and, the treatment with 50% of shade allows the best development. The substrate without humus and with 60% presented superior results but the higher dose stood out for... |
