| Everlasting flowers as a vector for exotic insects (Diptera: Tephritidae)? In this paper two rearing occasions of exotic fruit fly species of the genus Terellia are documented. Terellia fuscicornis (Loew, 1844) was reared from a ‘tropical’ plant (probably a thistle species) of unknown origin. Terellia longicauda (Meigen, 1830) was reared from Cirsium rivulare from southern France. On both occasions the plants were left to dry to serve as everlasting flowers. The differences between these exotic and a similar native Terellia-species are given. It is unsure if these introduced species can become established in the Netherlands. |

| The invasive American Eastern Cherry Fruitfly Rhagoletis cingulata in the Netherlands (Diptera: Tephritidae) In 2003 the European Invertebrate Survey - Netherlands, on request of the Plant Protection Service of the Netherlands, conducted a survey of the distribution and phenology of the American Eastern Cherry Fruitfly Rhagoletis cingulata (Loew, 1862). The focus of this survey was the province of Zeeland, because the first records stemmed from this province (Van Aartsen 2001). | Diapause has been poorly investigated in tephritid fruit flies and in associated parasitoids in tropical regions. In this work, diapause in larval-pupal parasitoids of fruit flies is reported for the region of the Reconcavo Baiano, Brazil. Diapause was recorded for individuals of four native species [Doryctobracon areolatus (Szépligeti), Utetes anastrephae (Viereck), Opius sp. (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), Aganaspis pelleranoi (Brethes) (Hymenoptera: Figitidae)] and of one exotic braconid [Diachasmimorpha longicaudata Ashmead]. | Foram determinados os índices de infestação por moscas-das-frutas em seis cultivares de Coffea arabica L. nos sistemas com e sem arborização, sob manejo orgânico. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado com parcelas sub-subdivididas e quatro repetições. Uma amostra de 250 g de frutos maduros por parcela foi colhida em maio de 2005. As cultivares Icatu Amarelo e Catucaí Amarelo mostraram menor susceptibilidade aos tefritídeos, nos dois sistemas de cultivo. Quanto aos lonqueídeos, Oeiras, Catucaí Amarelo e Catuaí Vermelho foram as cultivares menos susceptíveis no sistema arborizado, não havendo diferença entre as cultivares no sistema sem arborização. | From February 1998 to May 2000, fruits of different citrus varieties and hybrids were collected in order to assess the fruit fly infestation levels and tephritoid/parasitoid complex in the state of São Paulo. A total of 12,239 fruits (1,416.93 kg) was collected in 25 municipalities. From all the samples 5,252 puparia and 3,039 adults of Tephritoidea were recovered. About 78.1% of all adults collected were Tephritidae [77.1% de Anastrepha sp. and 1.0% de Ceratitis capitata (Wied.)] and 21.9% were Lonchaeidae (Neosilba spp.). All females of Anastrepha were identified as A. fraterculus (Wied.). Adults of Braconidae, Diapriidae and Eucoilinae emerged from the citrus samples. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi adequar as dietas artificiais para o desenvolvimento dos estágios de larva e adulto da mosca-das-frutas sul-americana (Anastrepha fraterculus). Para o estágio larval, foram testadas as seguintes dietas: D1, original, com 10 g de ágar; D2, modificada, com 3,6 g de ágar; e, D3, modificada, com bagaço seco de cana-de-açúcar. | Este trabalho apresenta análise faunística comparativa das espécies de moscas-das-frutas capturadas em armadilhas McPhail (junho a dezembro de 2002) com proteína hidrolisada de milho a 5%. Foram comparadas a riqueza de espécies e a estrutura populacional entre ambientes de mata e pomar dos municípios de Palmas e Porto Nacional, TO. Foram capturados 1.748 indivíduos de espécies de três gêneros de Tephritidae: Tomoplagia Coquillett, 1910, Anastrepha Schiner, 1868 e Ceratitis MacLeay, 1829.
