ABSTRACT The demand for cultivars suitable for processing, especially as frozen French fries, is increasing in Brazil. The Canadian expertise is high regarding the development of cultivars with processing characteristics; however, the growing conditions in Canada are quite different from those observed in Brazil. Thus, the aim of this work was to evaluate the performance of Canadian potato clones for their tuber yield, frying quality, plant vigor, and plant cycle, as potential new cultivars or to be used as a new source of variability for crosses. Spring planting favors yield of new Brazilian potato cultivar BRS F63 Camila Horticultura Brasileira

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different planting dates on the morphological variables and yield of new potato cultivars. The treatments were three cultivars (Agata, BRS Clara and BRS F63 Camila) and three planting date (October, December and February), carried out in two crop years (2014/15 and 2015/16). Total and marketable yields, average mass of total and marketable tubers, growth period, leaf area index, number and dry weight of the tubers were evaluated. The first planting date resulted in higher yield than the third date. Trial cultivation of Chinese artichoke (Stachys sieboldii Miq.) in Tokachi region OAK

シソ科の塊茎作物であるチョロギ(Stachys sieboldii)の十勝地方における栽培適性を評価した。帯広畜産大学の実験圃場に 4つの試験区を作り、それぞれを本州における慣行栽培に従う「対照区」、土壌をビニルマルチで被覆する「ビニルマルチ区」、そしてリビングマルチとしてオオムギ、あるいはヘアリーベッチを混作する「オオムギ区」と「ベッチ区」とした。2012年5月31日に、チョロギの苗をそれぞれの区に移植し栽培を開始した。そして収穫後の11月に稔った塊茎の収量を試験区間で比較した。チョロギでは使用認可を得た除草剤がないため、栽培期間中の雑草との競合が問題となった。対照区とオオムギ区、ベッチ区では、栽培開始後まもなく雑草との競合が起こり、生育盛期には株が雑草で覆い尽くされてしまった。5月末からのチョロギ栽培では、リビングマルチによる雑草防除効果が期待できないことがわかる。一方、ビニルマルチ区では効果的に雑草が防除され、チョロギ株が旺盛に生育した。対照区の塊茎収量は、459.2±131.8g/㎡であった。本州における平均塊茎収量が300〜600g/㎡であることから、慣行栽培を模倣することで十勝地方においても本州並みの収量が期待できることが示された。これに対し、オオムギ区とベッチ区では塊茎収量がいずれも対照区より低かった。一方、ビニルマルチ区では、塊茎収量が1175.1±317.0g/㎡と対照区に比べ明らかに高い値となった。ビニルマルチによる雑草防除効果と地温維持効果によって収量が改善されたと考えられる。本試験から、十勝地方においてもチョロギの栽培が可能であり、多収化にはビニルマルチの利用が効果的であることが明らかとなった。
