Katinas,Liliana; Gutiérrez,Diego G.; Torres Robles,Silvia S..
A catalogue of the Cactaceae type material of Carlos Luis Spegazzini (1858-1926) deposited in the Herbarium of Museo de La Plata (LP), Argentina, is presented. Types of Facets on the Superior Articular Surface of Isan-Thai Dried Calcanei International Journal of Morphology
Iamsaard,Sitthichai; Uabundit,Nongnut; Boonruangsri,Porntip; Sawatpanich,Tarinee; Hipkaeo,Wiphawi.
The patterns of talar articulating facets must be concerned in surgical procedure or the internal and external fixation in various diseases of the foot. The variant types of calcaneal facets on the superior articular surface have been reported in many races except in Thais. This study therefore was aimed to investigate the patterns of superior articulating facet of dried calcanei in Isan-Thais. The identified 396 Isan- Thai dried calcanei (202 males and 194 females) were carried out for variant superior facet observations. The results showed that types of facets observed could be classified into three major types (Type 1 [60.86%], Type 2 [38.64%], and Type 4 [0.51%], respectively). In sub-type classifications, there were Type 1A (24.75%), Type 1B (36.11%),...

Annotations to the figured scallops (Mollusca, Bivalvia, Pectinidae) in Gualtieri’s “Index Testarum Conchyliorum”, deposited in the Museo di Storia Naturale e del Territorio at Calci (Pisa, Italy) Naturalis
Dijkstra, H.H..
An overview is given of the Pectinidae types present in the Gualtieri collection. In Gualtieri (1742) 46 figures (pl. 73 - 15 figs, pl. 74 - 25 figs, pl. 98 – 2 figs, and pl. 99 – 4 figs) show specimens of Pectinidae. Linnaeus (1758) referred to 10 Pectinidae species figured by Gualtieri. Of these, 8 species (7 paralectotypes and one syntype, herein recognised) were traced in the Gualtieri collection, and 2 species (Ostrea peslutrae and Ostrea maxima) were not found. Subsequently, Gmelin (1791) referred to 33 Pectinidae species (12 described by Linnaeus in 1758, one species described by Müller in 1776), and 20 species (13 species were traced, all herein recognised as syntypes, and 7 species were not found) named by himself. No direct evidence was found of...

The MNHN taxonomic referential: state and ongoing developments Naturalis
Bruckert, R..
The relational database of taxonomic references developed in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), in Paris, has been greatly improved. New names, principally synonyms, have been added to the database following four lines: (1) The referential has been improved taxonomically: type-species of genera have been defined; species names renamed by nomina nova have been searched and entered as well as the source(s) of conflict of the species homonym(s); also, combinatio nova or new combinations of species names given by authors of new genera have been databased. (2) The names which were found written on the labels of the specimens of the MNHN collection have been databased. The computerization of the MNHN collection has started with the Suboscines,...

Systematic notes on Asian birds. 17. Types of birds collected in Yunnan by George Forrest and described by Walter Rothschild Naturalis
LeCroy, M.; Dickinson, E.C..
We have examined the types of 41 nominal taxa based mostly on five bird collections made by George Forrest in Yunnan and described by Lord Walter Rothschild. In some cases, there is a need to designate lectotypes, which we do. We also clarify which types are in Tring and which are in New York (correcting an error previously published). Birds from Forrest’s 1930-1931 Yunnan expedition seem not to have been written up. A map is provided.

Systematic notes on Asian birds. 46. ‘A Catalogue of the Birds in the Museum of the Hon. East-India Company’ by Horsfield & Moore Naturalis
Dickinson, E.C..
Ornithological literature has been extremely inconsistent in assigning authorship for the new names proposed in ‘A Catalogue of the Birds in The Museum of the Hon. East-India Company’ by Horsfield & Moore, or by Moore in parallel to it. The corrected dates of separate publications by Moore and the ICZN Code allow all assignments to be resolved. Hodgson should never be cited for a new name in this work. All but six taxa are attributable to Moore alone, five to Horsfield & Moore and one taxon, Acanthis flavirostris brevirostris although described by Moore, was described by Bonaparte a few months earlier. The contents are set out to show which families were covered by this unfinished work. Evidence is also presented to show that volume 2 appeared as a...
