| Trabalhos publicados na literatura relatam técnicas utilizadas para o manejo florestal da Caatinga que se baseiam na subdivisão da área em unidades de produção anual (UPA) submetidas a diferentes formas de corte, e que passam por um processo de regeneração natural com ciclo de aproximadamente 15 anos. Porém, muitas respostas ainda precisam ser conhecidas, principalmente em relação ao potencial de regeneração da Caatinga e às formas de minimizar os impactos antrópicos na vegetação. | Contemporary Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture (UPA) is gaining worldwide and national prominence as it reassures itself as a permanent factor in people and society sustainable development processes. In Campinas, the Municipal Chamber and Executive have, through municipal legislation and regulation of the Community Vegetal-gardens Program of Campinas (CVP), signaled the intention of bringing to the political agenda, the urban agriculture issue, since 1997.
