Métabolisme et interactions bactériennes en lien avec la vitamine B12 chez la microalgue haptophyte Tisochrysis lutea ArchiMer
Nef, Charlotte.
Vitamin B12 is an enzymatic cofactor that enables methionine synthesis and whose availability can control phytoplankton development in marine systems. This vitamin is synthesized only by select species of bacteria and archaea. Haptophyte microalgae form a widespread group with major ecological importance. However, little is known about their utilization of vitamin B12 nor their interactions with B12 producers. Our main objectives were to characterize mechanisms of acquisition and utilization of vitamin B12 by Haptophytes and the effect of B12 limitation on their metabolism by considering the model species Tisochrysis lutea. Analysis of the repartition of B12 dependency in haptophytes by molecular approaches suggest that this group would be the first to...

Cobalt and vitamin B12 in diets for commercial laying hens on the second cycle of production Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Kato,RK; Bertechini,AG; Fassani,EJ; Santos,CD; Dionizio,MA; Fialho,ET.
The supplementation of cobalt and vitamin B12 in diets for commercial laying hens on the second production cycle was studied. Four hundred and eighty light commercial laying hens, Lohmann LSL, were used at initial phase of forced molting laying period. The trial was conducted in a randomized design. The plots were the treatments which were constituted by combination of five cobalt levels (0.00; 0.30; 0.60; 0.90 and 1.20ppm) and two vitamin B12 levels (without and with 10µ/kg), and the split-plots were four periods (21, 42, 63 and 84 days) during the second period of production, with 4 repetitions and 12 hens per experimental unit. Food and water were provided ad libitum and eggs were collected twice daily. Performance and egg quality parameters were...

Association between vitamin B12 level and anti-parietal cells and anti-intrinsic factor antibodies among adult Jordanian patients with Helicobacter pylori infection BJID
Ayesh,Mahmoud H.; Jadalah,Khaled; Awadi,Eiman Al; Alawneh,Khaldoon; Khassawneh,Basheer.
OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the association of Helicobacter pylori infection with anti-parietal cell antibodies (APCA) and anti-intrinsic factor antibodies (AIFA) and their impact on vitamin B12 serum level. PATIENTS AND METHODS: One hundred patients (M/F: 43/57; age 46.5 ± 17.5 years) who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at King Abdullah University Hospital, Irbid, Jordan were enrolled in the study. The patients were grouped as H. pylori-infected (n = 81) or H. pylori negative (n = 19) by histopathological examination. Fasting serum vitamin B12 levels, antiparietal cell antibodies and anti-intrinsic factor antibodies for patients and controls were determined. RESULTS: Anti-parietal cell antibodies and anti-intrinsic factor antibodies were positive in...
