Growth, yield and nutrient uptake of guava (Psidium Guavaja L.) affected by soil matric potential, fertigation and mulching under drip irrigation CIGR Journal
Junaid Nazir Khan; Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141004, Punjab, India; Aanchal Kumar Jain; Punjab Agricultural University; Rakesh Sharda; Punjab Agricultural University; Navprem Singh; Punjab Agricultural University; Parampal Singh Gill; Punjab Agricultural University; Sumanjeet Kaur; Punjab Agricultural University.
Our objective was to examine the effect of plastic mulching, three soil matric potentials (SMP) treatments    {I1(-20 kPa), I2(-40 kPa), and I3(-60 kPa)} and three fertigation levels {F1(100%), F2(80%), and F3(60%) recommended dose of fertilizer} under drip irrigation conditions for nutrient uptake, growth parameters and yield in guava plants.  The experiments were set up in factorial randomized block design with eighteen treatment combinations.  The experiments were conducted during the year 2012-13.  The investigation indicated that the plant canopy spread in (N/S and E/W) directions was greatly affected by different treatments.  However, non-significant effects of interaction parameters were found on plant height, crop volume and plant girth.  The...

Regionale Vernetzungen in der Landwirtschaft Beitrage eines teilprojektubergreifenden regionalen Workshops am 13.01.2005 in Bad Liebenwerda (Landkreis Elbe-Elster) AgEcon
Dannenberg, Peter; Schleyer, Christian; Wustemann, Henry.
The Working Paper compiles three contributions of a regional workshop on "Regional Networks in Agriculture" jointly organized by three subprojects of the DFG-Research Group SUTRA. The workshop took place on January 13, 2005 in Bad Liebenwerda in the district (Landkreis) Elbe-Elster in the German federal state of Brandenburg assembling 60 farmers and other regional stakeholders. The objective was to present the respective research projects and to discuss first results. The Working Paper highlights the commonalities of the three subprojects with regard to content, research region, and methodological approach. Thus, it also documents the subprojects' past, current, and future co-operation. Peter Dannenberg (subproject 4) deals with types and spatial...

A Multi-Criteria Approach for Irrigation Water Management AgEcon
Saraiva, Joao Paulo; Pinheiro, Antonio Cipriano.
The major implications that the European Union (EU) Water Framework Directive (WFD) may have in irrigated agriculture were analysed using alternative water policy measures. The consequences of policy change were evaluated in a case study (Baixo Alentejo, Portugal), using a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) model that simulates farmers’ preferred behaviour. The study compares the effects of water pricing (volumetric and flat tariffs) and consumption quotas, in farmer’s income, water agency revenues, agricultural employment and water demand for irrigation. Model results indicate that the adjustments in farmer’s responses are dependent on the policy strategy enforced and on the policy level.
