Mouquet, Pascal; Ropert, Michel; Bajjouk, Touria; Delacourt, Christophe.

Petit, Tristan.
Airborne hyperspectral imaging is a potential candidate for mapping and monitoring coral reefs at large scale and with high spatial resolution. In this thesis, we first present the processing steps to be applied to hyperspectral signals for extracting information about seabed types, bathymetry and water optical properties, and we discuss their efficiency with respect to two main confounding factors: (i) low signal to noise ratio of the measured signals, and (ii) large number and variability of physical interactions occurring between the entrance of sunlight into the atmosphere and its measurement by the hyperspectral sensor. Considering these limitations, we examine the performance of an already existing water column processing method: semi-analytical...

Hyperspectral and Lidar: Complementary Tools to Identify Benthic Features and Assess the Ecological Status of Sabellaria alveolata Reefs ArchiMer
Bajjouk, Touria; Jauzein, Cecile; Drumetz, Lucas; Dalla Mura, Mauro; Duval, Audrey; Dubois, Stanislas.
Sabellaria alveolata is a sedentary gregarious tube-building species widely distributed from southwest Scotland to Morocco. This species builds what are currently considered the largest European biogenic reefs in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel (France). As an ecosystem engineer, S. alveolata generates small to large scale topographic complexity, creating numerous spatial and trophic niches for other species to colonize. Sabellaria reefs are also under anthropogenic pressures, leading locally to massive degradation. However, stakeholders lack spatially explicit measures of reef ecological status, at adapted spatial resolution to provide key management information for this protected habitat. Traditional field surveys are extremely time-consuming and rely on...

Leaf Spectra Changes of Plants Grown in Soils Pre- and Post-Contaminated with Petroleum Hydrocarbons. Repositório Alice
GÜRTLER, S.; SOUZA FILHO, C. R.; SANCHES, I. D.; MAGALHÃES, L. A.; ALVES, M. N.; OLIVEIRA, W. J.; QUITÉRIO, G. C. M..
ABSTRACT: Leaks from accidents or damage to pipelines that transport liquid petroleum hydrocarbons (PHC) such as gasoline and diesel are harmful to the environment as well as to human health, and may be hard to detect by inspection mechanisms alone when they occur in small volumes or persistently. In the present study, we aim to identify spectral anomalies in two plant species (Brachiaria brizantha and Neonotonia wightii) linked to contamination effects at different developmental phases of these plants. To do so, we used spectroscopy and remote sensing approaches to detect small gasoline and diesel leaks by observing the damage caused to the vegetation that covers simulated pipelines. We performed a contamination test before and after planting using...
